After entering the ‘Battlefield of the Gods,’ the group traveled in a harmonious atmosphere for two days.
But on the evening of the third day, something happened.
“Then why don’t you lift a finger over there?”
The voice of a woman named Katarina drew the attention of the third campsite. She was looking down at Lee Hyo-ju, who was gazing forlornly at the campfire, and spoke.
“…Pardon?”
“No? I’m the representative of the Goddess of Time, so I don’t have to work, yet why won’t you lift a finger? Are you the same as me?”
“…What do you want me to do then?”
At that moment, Lee Hyo-ju thought Katarina’s answer was truly idiotic.
Not only her, but everyone in the group, except Katarina herself, even Unos, thought what Katarina said was stupid.
So everyone momentarily entered a state of mental mindfuck and couldn’t intervene.
“No, you should do something. You just stand still during battles, right? And just picking up firewood isn’t enough. Isn’t that so?”
“So what do you want from me?! I’ll join the battle from tomorrow. Is that enough?!”
The more Lee Hyo-ju talked to this foolish woman, the angrier she got. It was like seeing the so-called ‘pick-me girls’ she occasionally saw at school, who proudly clung to a guy.
“Th-that…!”
Katarina was momentarily flustered.
If she intervened in the battle, she would manifest some power, and then it might be revealed that she’s the representative of the Goddess of Time.
Then, although it wasn’t her original intention, a voice intervened to save Katarina.
“That’s not necessary, Lee Hyo-ju. We are enough for the battle. So, please don’t worry and rest. Unlike others, we appreciate even the small help you’ve been providing so far.”
Arun gently persuaded Lee Hyo-ju.
Just as Lee Hyo-ju was about to politely decline and say she would join the hunt from tomorrow.
“Oh ho ho ho. Well, how much could you really do?! Why not work in another area instead?”
“What exactly are you trying to say?”
“Well~ Hmm~ For example, a job that only a woman can do for a man?”
“…What?”
“Why are you pretending not to understand? Shouldn’t you be spreading your legs to relieve the fatigue of the men who work hard during the day? They’re risking their lives to protect useless women like you from monsters.”
“…What?!”
A woman scoffing, a woman in shock, a man surprised, a man licking his lips with gleaming eyes, a man watching with interest, a man indifferent.
Silence fell over the campsite.
Still maintaining my concealment, I watched the strangely unfolding scene at the campsite with interest.
The ridiculous words of that stupid woman. And the unexpected lack of opposition at the campsite evoked a strange nostalgia.
’Yes, this is how it should be in the filthy ‘Battlefield of the Gods.’
Selfish actions. Never thinking of others. Only I, becoming stronger, and surviving are important here.
To survive, women spread their legs, and men volunteer as sex pimps. That’s this place, the ‘Battlefield of the Gods.’
A sharp voice suddenly pulled me out of my reverie.
“What did you say?!”
“Why? What’s wrong with what I said?”
“You! How can a woman like you say such things to another woman…?”
Lee Hyo-ju trembling like that while speaking was an impressive sight, even when she’s angry.
Reflecting on her life before regression, during those times, Lee Hyo-ju would often throw the ‘Relic Answerer.’
The ‘Relic Answerer,’ although a sword, uniquely increased intellect and divine power stats, and could be retrieved even if thrown far away.
“Another woman? Oh my! Surely you don’t mean that refers to you and me, right? I’m a high god’s representative of time. Plus, I’m a noble. But you’re not, are you? Not a high god’s representative, nor a noble, just a commoner. So how can you think we’re the same woman?”
That trashy woman is not only shameless but clearly unaware of what she’s doing right now.
The reason Lee Hyo-ju, with the plausible title of Military Star, came to be called the ‘Mad Woman of the Battlefield’ was precisely because she faced enemies in such a state of extreme anger.
When people get angry, their characteristics manifest differently.
For me, when I’m genuinely furious, my heart beats incredibly fast. Really fast.
Thanks to the high concentration of oxygen supplied to my brain, I become dazed as if on drugs.
Conversely, Lee Hyo-ju’s heart beats slowly. Very slowly. The angrier she gets, the calmer and more composed she becomes.
Thus, when she’s called by the alias ‘Mad Woman of the Battlefield,’ she appears to lack ethics, not just human, but any form of life ethics.
“Ha?! You… you’re truly incorrigible.”
“Oh dear, what are you doing? This delicate lady here is willing to lower her skirt for you all. If you keep avoiding, even a woman as vulgar as this would feel embarrassed, wouldn’t she?”
“You crazy woman!”
With a shout, Lee Hyo-ju rose to her feet.
The thick branch in her hand shattered Katarina’s left shoulder and heroically disintegrated as if it was meant to do so.
Snap! Thud!
‘Oh! Long time no see! Limited Imbuement, Time Stop.’
All the representatives stood up with surprised faces. The face of Unos, who had been watching the situation with interest, was now pleasingly distorted.
Although I didn’t expect her to use it already, it was a power Lee Hyo-ju often used while holding the Relic Answerer.
She releases the time stop only on the weapon and herself, freezing the time around her.
Then, in the frozen time, the weapon moves beyond the enemy’s perception range, applying the power that slices through the heart.
Like an assassin. Rumors even said she possessed god-like assassination skills.
“Kyaaaah! Ah, it hurts! It hurts! Aaaaah!!”
Katarina’s scream echoed through the campsite. However, no one spared a glance at Katarina.
Especially Unos, who was too shocked and could only stare blankly at Lee Hyo-ju, while Rokoff, known by the true name of the Knight of Dawn, was stunned by the branch that flew without him being able to react.
Perhaps he mistakenly thought he was the strongest among them.
An accident that happened suddenly without any chance to intervene.
The atmosphere of the campsite changed due to that accident.
Rokoff, who was always silent, suddenly became wary of Lee Hyo-ju’s strong combat power, and the muscular Torres was busy gauging Lee Hyo-ju’s mood.
Arun stayed out of it as usual, and Unos wore a face deep in thought.
While everyone was lost in their own thoughts, Katarina was sitting down, clutching her left arm with her right hand, stomping her feet and screaming.
Of course, it must hurt, but she was being overly dramatic for just a broken shoulder blade.
The campsite fell silent as everyone got lost in their own thoughts.
Lee Hyo-ju approached Katarina, who was rolling on the ground.
“There are things you can say and things you shouldn’t. Got it, noble lady?!”
Lee Hyo-ju growled into Katarina’s ear, grabbing her by the collar, then released her grip and walked into the forest.
Unos, following Lee Hyo-ju’s movements with his eyes, clicked his tongue as if he had no choice and cast a healing spell on Katarina.
Once the treatment was somewhat complete, Katarina regained her senses and looked for Lee Hyo-ju.
“Where did that woman go?! That vulgar woman! Unos, what are you doing? Go find her now!”
However, no one at the campsite listened to Katarina anymore. Or rather, they ignored her.
Even Unos was more focused on the forest where Lee Hyo-ju disappeared than on Katarina.
“Please calm down, Katarina. Lee Hyo-ju wasn’t entirely in the right, but you went too far with your words.”
“Wh-what did you say?! Who are you to criticize me, you weakling?! Have you already slept with her? Is that why you’re defending her?”
Katarina, who had no sense of judgment, glared at Arun, who tried to calm her down, and pointed her uninjured right hand at him, spewing harsh words.
“Katarina!”
Arun raised his voice with a stern face at Katarina’s outrageous remarks, and blue mana flickered around his body.
‘Oh, manifestation.’
When mages reach a certain level, they can naturally imbue mana with their will, manifesting through spells and rituals.
Before embodying that will, mana manifestation occurs in the initial stage. Depending on emotions or momentum, mana appears like a halo around the body.
For a newcomer to the ‘Battlefield of the Gods,’ it was certainly an impressive level.
The resolute tone of Arun, who had been quietly following the group until now, and the aura of blue mana flickering around him silenced Katarina’s outburst.
“Do you not have the ability to learn? Just as Lee Hyo-ju mentioned earlier, there are things a person can say and things they shouldn’t.”
“Y-you! You!”
Katarina, unable to babble as before under Arun’s pressure, could only glare at him with a contorted face.
However, no one stopped Arun. Instead, Rokoff frowned and glared at Katarina along with him.
Katarina finally realized that the atmosphere of the camp had completely changed. They were looking at her with eyes full of contempt, as if she were pathetic.
Watching this scene unfold like a soap opera, I had to do my best to stifle my laughter.
If I were to summarize their actions from the beginning until now,
“It’s a festival of nonsense.”
It was nothing special.
In the human world, they might be exceptional individuals, but among the representatives in this ‘Battlefield of the Gods,’ they were just ordinary.
Of course, excluding Katarina, who was below average.
With such unremarkable individuals boasting about themselves, it was hard not to chuckle.
Adding to that, Unos was actually comforting Katarina while neglecting Lee Hyo-ju, the true representative of Aetas he was searching for, and Arun was inexplicably getting heated with Katarina.
If they were going to intervene, they should have stepped in earlier when Katarina was spouting nonsense.
As I was enduring the cringe from the foolish acts of these worthless beings, Rokoff got up and headed into the forest.
“Where are you going?”
“The sun is setting. I’m going to look.”
Rokoff briefly answered Torres’s blunt question and then strode into the forest. About 30 minutes later, he returned to the campsite with Lee Hyo-ju.
An uncomfortable and bothersome silence descended on the campsite.
Without even attempting to hunt, they fell asleep, each slightly more distant from each other than the day before.
The uneasy journey with Lee Hyo-ju’s group continued into the next day.
Unlike the previous day, there was no cheerful conversation, nor did anyone speak to each other.
Even with trash stats, Katarina, who had the body of a representative, showed signs of improvement quickly.
Of course, unless she had monster-like stamina stats, her broken shoulder couldn’t heal in just one day, but she was visibly better, likely due to the concurrent treatment using divine power.
Thus, they reached the fourth evening.
The group still hadn’t hunted, and only Arun and Lee Hyo-ju gathered firewood to light a campfire.
Katarina, the last to notice the changed atmosphere, blamed everything on Lee Hyo-ju.
‘Vulgar woman!! Using violence so ignorantly! Dirty woman! A woman to kill! A woman like a whore! How dare she seduce such a weakling?!’
She didn’t even see the act of Arun and Lee Hyo-ju lighting a fire for the group in a good light.
After that, without assigning any watches, each of them went to bed.
Unos did help Katarina arrange her sleeping spot, but he no longer had a smile on his face like before.
His actions revealed it. The expression once shown by the servants and maids who attended to beautiful Katarina became sour.
Katarina sensed Unos’s reluctance in his demeanor.
The more it happened, the more Katarina’s complexion noticeably changed. The face she considered beautiful twisted like a demon.
Was it fortunate that it was dark? None of the party noticed her change.
Watching the campsite with six people, I shook my head unconsciously.
Katarina’s face seemed ominous, as if she would cause trouble soon, and Unos still couldn’t find his footing.
None of the other party members seemed inclined to do anything either.
If this continued, they might soon fall apart or cause a ruckus, but judging by their actions, they were hopeless fools.
I’ll watch for a few more days and then depart for Exorsus first.
I climbed a tall, dense tree near the party, leaned against a branch, and closed my eyes.
