Late night.
Suddenly awakened by the rustling noise. With agility surpassing 100, even the slightest noise prompts movement.
With my senses and sight, I caught the figure of Katarina sitting up.
In the dark night, Katarina’s eyes, radiating a murderous aura, were visible even from the tree where I was perched, a reasonable distance from the campsite.
In that state, Katarina alternated her gaze between the campfire and the sleeping group, fiddling with something inside her chest.
‘…Is she a pervert?’
As I frowned at her bizarre behavior, Katarina, only having raised her upper body, began to take something out of her bosom.
Focusing my Force on my eyes, I saw her holding a glass bottle with yellow liquid in one hand and a glass bottle with red liquid in the other.
After a moment of hesitation, Katarina glared at the sleeping Lee Hyo-ju with a spiteful look, threw the bottle with the yellow liquid into the campfire, and quickly drank from the red bottle while watching the fire.
As the yellow liquid hit the campfire, thick purple smoke began to emanate, and Katarina, with a cruel smile, stared intently at Lee Hyo-ju.
Her eyes were full of murderous intent, yet the smile on her face was grotesque.
The purple smoke, originating from the campfire, started to settle on the campsite floor, with some of it wafting into the air.
Watching the series of events unfold from the beginning, I prepared to move at any moment, wondering what that trash was up to this time.
Even from the tree a bit further away, Katarina’s expression was far from normal.
‘Oh? What’s going on?’
Suddenly, the divine power within my body stirred without my will.
Especially the Spirit and Divinity seemed to squirm, and before I knew it, they began to sweep through my body fiercely.
Soon, my head felt refreshed, and my vision became clearer.
Only then did I realize that something almost went wrong without my knowing.
‘What is this? My mental attack defense is at MAX due to the gamer’s authority?’
An aphrodisiac that could affect me from this far away.
There was no time to be happy about the message that appeared and the increased divine power.
Before I could even figure out what had happened, a scream broke out from the campsite. It was a scream from a woman’s voice I knew all too well.
“Wh-what’s going on?! Ahh! G-get away! No! No! Ugh!”
Four men were roughly touching a woman’s body all over.
The thick purple smoke on the ground didn’t easily dissipate despite the rough movements of Lee Hyo-ju and the four men.
The campfire, as if it were a factory chimney, continuously spewed purple smoke, further covering the ground around the campsite in purple.
Meanwhile, the comfortable training clothes Lee Hyo-ju was wearing were torn to shreds.
She struggled to move her body and resist the rough hands of the men pushing in, but it was too much.
But the strange thing was that no one paid attention to Katarina.
None of the four men approached Katarina. As if they were looking at another man.
‘Did that woman eat something to avoid this kind of situation? Wait a minute. But how can a mere stimulant be Super Rare?’
A top-grade potion, which can even reattach severed limbs—though not without a priest’s healing spell—is rated as Rare. Just Rare.
An elixir, capable of instantly healing most wounds and physical defects, is Unique.
So, the stimulant she threw into the campfire, which I’ve never heard of, is one grade below an elixir and higher than a top-grade potion.
‘Ha! Crazy woman!’
The campsite situation was escalating to a critical point.
However, I couldn’t recklessly jump into the ominous purple smoke to save Lee Hyo-ju.
Even though I’d recovered due to internal divine power, there was no guarantee I wouldn’t end up like those men.
‘Think, think. Damn it! My head… Can I blow them all away…? Ah!’
I drew out Force and Mana.
Sssssss.
The sound of branches swaying in the wind was eerie. It wasn’t the wind. Perhaps it felt more eerie because it wasn’t naturally generated.
Mana surged. Force followed with vitality. The repulsion of the two divine powers shook the giant tree from its roots.
Sssssst! Sssssssssst! Crack!
Finally, the sound of the tree splitting in the middle was heard, and the struggle between Force and Mana reached its peak.
Just set the direction. The rest of the divine power merely assisted.
Unleashed divine power flew toward the campsite. The struggle and repulsion of the two powers summoned a dragon clad in a whirlwind.
Boom!
“Kyaa!”
The sound was not as loud as expected. Perhaps because the divine power contained was weak.
However, the air, drawn by the repulsion of divine power, created a whirlwind, scattering the campfire and driving away the purple smoke.
Moreover, the four men clinging to Lee Hyo-ju’s body were momentarily forced to sit down.
Katarina let out a short scream due to the sudden gust of wind.
At that moment, another kind of change occured at the campsite.
As the force of the men pressing down on her disappeared, Lee Hyo-ju’s body vanished and reappeared near the outskirts of the campsite.
‘Complete time stop! Could she already use it?’
Lee Hyo-ju, who appeared on the outskirts, was covered in bruises, perhaps because she was pinned down by the four men on the rough dirt ground.
Her whole body trembling and staggering with unstable steps, she already seemed to have exhausted her strength.
Whether by coincidence or sensing my newly emerged divine power, she walked straight towards the tree where I was.
The emotions I felt in that very brief moment were extremely unfamiliar.
That voice, that scream, that trembling body.
In the past, I wouldn’t have even thought of clearing the purple mist and would have rushed to her danger without hesitation.
But now, I am analyzing the situation objectively and calmly, almost as if conducting a battlefield analysis.
‘Now, you as a woman are less than an acquaintance to me.’
The excited men were rushing over. The distance between them and Lee Hyo-ju, who was trembling and walking, was rapidly closing.
As the most agile of the four men, Rokoff placed his hand on Lee Hyo-ju’s shoulder, a chilling scythe was simultaneously placed against his neck.
Thunk!
The scythe rebounded with a strong force, and the invisibility was lifted.
Rokoff was thrown back by the force, rolling on the ground, but he quickly got up. Although a blade touched and then left his neck, his attention was solely on Lee Hyo-ju.
A moment ago, I had anticipated from the scene where bodies flew with the wind that those intoxicated could not use Divine Power.
Seeing Rokoff, who had fallen to the ground with the scythe acting as a collar around his neck, flail his hands toward Lee Hyo-ju, that assumption turned into certainty.
I infused Force and Mana simultaneously into the scythe I held in my right hand. The white and blue energies seemed to repel each other, but soon found their places and became one.
The white Force firmly settled outside while the blue Mana fiercely rotated inside.
Once more, with the feeling of pulling the collar of a disobedient dog, I roughly tugged the scythe.
Swoosh. Thud.
Rokoff’s head fell powerlessly, and messages cluttered my view. I didn’t have the leisure to confirm them.
In the brief moment of dealing with Rokoff, the muscular Torres, who handled a heavy-looking axe with ease, approached.
Red, bloodshot eyes, rough breathing, and veins that seemed about to burst through his forehead.
The guy had no interest in me or Rokoff’s corpse lying on the ground.
Fixating his gaze solely on Lee Hyo-ju, I swung the scythe surrounded by white and blue light at the beastly Torres as he passed by.
With graceful movements, the white and blue light drove away the forest’s dark shadows. Following it, red blood scattered.
Is it because I’ve seen blood? The murderous aura rose, making the surrounding air tremble, and the grass underfoot dried up.
Unos, who staggered towards me for the last time, seemed to regain his senses, whether it was due to my murderous aura or some other reason.
I didn’t know what was going on, but it seemed his mind had returned.
As I shifted my gaze over Unos’s shoulder, Arun sat down like a broken toy robot, vomiting clumps of dark red blood, looking at me with a bewildered expression.
‘Ho, for a mage, he seems to have developed a bit of Spirit besides Mana; is he resisting?’
Come to think of it, the most incomprehensible person was Rokoff, who died first.
Considering his talent, ‘Dawn,’ he should have been able to break free from the drug faster than Arun. Whether it was a lack of will or some other reason, I didn’t know.
It had already happened, and I didn’t have the capacity to worry about the dead.
Among the enemies I wanted to grab when re-entering the ‘Battlefield of the Gods,’ Unos, who ranks in the top three, was trembling before me.
I threw the scythe into the inventory and strode towards the startled and frightened guy.
Even in a normal state, I could easily win in a one-on-one fight, but against someone whose mind had once wandered like now, it was nothing.
“Nice to meet you, you bastard!”
“Wh-who…?! Ack!”
I landed a solid punch on the face of the guy who, sitting on the ground, crawled back and asked who I was.
The guy rolled on the dirt floor with a thud. I quickly approached again. I grabbed him by the collar and lifted him up.
The ensuing exhilarating thrashing did not allow Unos to fall. I controlled my blows to ensure he wouldn’t collapse, repeatedly expressing my joy at our reunion with fervent hand and foot movements.
Unos, seemingly moved by my intense joy, shed tears but managed to stay upright, enduring my enthusiastic greeting to the end.
Near the campsite, only the sound of Arun’s groggy “Ugh…” and Hyo-ju’s sobbing, along with the crisp sound of my fists playing Unos’s body, echoed.
After beating him so much that his face swelled to about 1.5 times its size, I finally allowed him to fall and approach the two beheaded corpses.
Hoping that less than 10 minutes had passed since their death, I inserted both hands into their left chests to extract their hearts.
In the ‘Battlefield of the Gods,’ there are various ways for a representative to gain strength.
One method is to find and absorb fragments of gods represented by relics, and another is to search for dungeons hidden by the overseeing god.
Constant effort in the excellent environment of the battlefield is also a good method.
Additionally, meeting the overseeing god once a year can result in a significant power boost through the gifts they bestow.
“Absorb.”
And there is a method that truly befits the name of the battlefield.
By removing the heart of a representative who has been dead for less than 10 minutes, any representative can use the power of ‘Absorb’ to randomly absorb the abilities of that representative.
What is absorbed through the ‘Absorb’ power is, quite literally, random.
It could be part of a stat, an entire stat, divine power, or talent. The outcomes are varied, truly a gamble.
Just like now.
Notifications scrolled up rapidly.
I was relieved that the obsession with beating Unos didn’t exceed 10 minutes, unlike the ‘Settings’ message.
Moreover, to acquire ‘Dawn’, the talent I envied most from Rokoff. I didn’t expect such a jackpot, and I stopped to stare blankly at the message.
A talent that relies entirely on luck, yet is truly unique. In fact, it’s a talent that cannot be possessed unless one is a representative of the Goddess of Dawn.
I’ve had plenty of experiences absorbing other representatives in my past life. Or rather, too many. It’s only natural since I always led the charge where battles broke out.
However, back then, it was limited to absorbing some stats, not all the selected stats like this time.
Is this jackpot due to increased luck, or because I possess all five divine powers?
I set aside my thoughts for a moment and grabbed Unos by the hair, dragging him towards Hyo-ju.
“Eek!! G-get away…”
“Snap out of it.”
Lee Hyo-ju, who had been unable to gather her thoughts and was only sending gestures of refusal, was startled by the voice filled with Force and looked up.
Hyo-ju’s eyes, meeting mine, were trembling intensely. As if she had realized something.
“First, get up. Even if you can’t walk right now, take a break, but make sure you walk on your own. Move by yourself. This place is different from where you used to live. Think of it as the price for realizing early how damnable this place is. If you sit down, if you avoid, you’ll always be in the same spot. If you want to run away, you can. But think carefully and decide.”
After pouring out a long piece of advice to Lee Hyo-ju, I turned my body and started walking toward the campsite where the six fools had stayed.
The area around the campsite was enveloped in silence, to the point where only the sound of my footsteps and dragging Unos on the ground could be heard, making the earlier commotion seem insignificant.
