The boy was surrounded by piercing eyes.
Had it been him a few years later, he would have brushed off gazes of this level as though he were receiving poor acupuncture.
But to him, still young, his classmates’ critical gazes were like a hell of needle mountains.
Even though his body was already covered in bruises everywhere, he twisted as though salt were being rubbed into them on top of that.
His legs trembled as though he might run away at any moment. However, the boy desperately stood his ground.
“I… I didn’t do anything wrong…!”
Desperately squeezing out his voice, the boy glared back at the female teacher in front of him.
The middle-aged female teacher, dressed in a chic dress, shouted while adjusting her triangular glasses that looked like slanted eyes.
“My goodness!? To think you would glare back at me, the vice principal, what a delinquent boy, mothers!? As expected, a child raised in a poor family is poor all the way down to his very nature, mothers!”
“Vice Principal Mothers! Those guys were bullying a girl from the Saint Department! They were using the fact that they were upperclassmen and stronger to tear her robe and…!”
“Silence!”
Vice Principal Mothers cracked the riding crop in her hand sharply, as though standing before an undisciplined nag.
“The investigation is already complete, mothers! Leopin-kun, you tore the robe of a female student from the Saint Department and tried to play a prank on her, mothers! Then the Hero’s classmates punished you for it, mothers! That is the truth of the matter, mothers!”
“No way…!? They’re lying! When I stopped them, they all ganged up on me and…!”
“The Hero’s classmates are all sons of distinguished families, mothers! What those children say is obviously more correct, mothers!”
Vice Principal Mothers had an especially stern face, but then twisted her lips as though she had thought of something good.
“Leopin-kun not only attacked a frail female student from the Saint Department, but even after being reprimanded, he showed no remorse and shifted the blame onto others, mothers…! Since it has come to this, additional punishment is necessary, mothers…!”
Vice Principal Mothers told the classmates surrounding Leopin.
“From now on, all of you will give Leopin-kun additional punishment together, mothers! Do it thoroughly until Leopin-kun apologizes, mothers!”
At the vice principal’s order, the classmates’ reactions split into two types.
The students from good families already seemed like the vice principal’s lackeys, and they answered energetically, “Yes!”
The students of commoner rank or below were hesitant, but when the students from good families glared at them, they had no choice but to answer, “Yes…”
It was school violence approved by the vice principal, or rather, outright group bullying.
Young Leopin shrank back with a “Ugh…!” like a rabbit surrounded by a pride of lions.
“Now, this is your last chance, mothers! Get down on your knees and apologize, mothers! If you lick my shoes and swear to become a good child, I will forgive your punishment, mothers!”
Had it been the boy a few years later, he would have blown away this level of injustice in a single breath, not as sparks falling on him, but as ash that had already burned out.
However, the boy right now did not have that level of toughness.
Leopin clenched his fists, looked down, and began to tremble.
But before long, he let out a voice of agony, as though his intestines had been severed while he was still alive…
“S… s… sor…”
Vice Principal Mothers could not stop grinning, as though everything had gone exactly as planned.
However, as if pouring cold water on it, a voice came from outside the classroom.
“There is no need to apologize.”
Vice Principal Mothers shook her face as though water had been dumped over her, and looked toward the voice.
“Who is interfering with my educational policy, mothers!?”
Instead of an answer, two large boys were thrown in through the classroom door that had been left open.
The boys could no longer even stand on their own, and their legs had given out beneath them.
Their faces, swollen like balloons, were crumpled with tears as they said, “Pwease fowgive us…”
Vice Principal Mothers gasped.
“M… my goodness!? These children are the Hero’s classmates!?”
The mysterious voice announced.
“They confessed. They admitted they tore the robe of the girl from the Saint Department. And that they got angry at Leopin when he stepped in to stop them, then beat him to a pulp.”
“That must be a lie, mothers! You used violence to force them into making a false confession, mothers! To think you would resort to violence, what a delinquent student, mothers!”
“Oh, how strange, Vice Principal. They, who are the Hero’s classmates, also assaulted Leopin. And yet you refuse to believe Leopin’s statement… is that not strange?”
Vice Principal Mothers immediately tried to retort, “That is…!” but the mysterious voice forestalled her.
“I understand. The power wielded by the Hero and his classmates was the power of justice, and not violence at all, correct?”
“T… that is correct, mothers! Violence against allies of justice could never be allowed, mothers! You are an even worse delinquent student than Leopin-kun…! No, you are the most wicked student since our elementary school was founded, mothers!”
“I understand. Then I shall also receive punishment together with Leopin.”
“Y-you understand quickly, mothers! In that case, stop hiding and hurry up over here, mothers! Ah, I understand now, mothers! Your face has been beaten even worse than the classmates collapsed here, so you are too embarrassed to come out, mothers! Even if you try to act cool, you are just a mere thug in the end, mothers! Kyakyakyakya!”
When Vice Principal Mothers sneered, the students around her all laughed in the same way.
A silhouette appeared from beyond the door, and only his feet were illuminated by the light shining in like a spotlight from the classroom ceiling.
Click… click… click…
Each time his enamel-white shoes slowly rang out, his true identity came to light.
With each footstep, the smiles of the jeering onlookers vanished as though scattering like mist.
A refined, smart physique, and a uniform that fit him perfectly without the slightest opening.
A face that was sweet yet bitter, eyes that seemed to see through everything, and square glasses that combined intelligence and elegance.
Hair that was neatly set, yet still silky smooth.
Even though each individual part was so excellent that nothing else could compare, all of them were in perfect harmony.
Everything… every single thing about him could only be called perfect… and his name was…!
“Wha… Weeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiss-kuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun!?!?”
He was the rumored boy whose mere appearance was enough to shake the entire class…!
