The moment that boy appeared, the air in the classroom clearly changed.

“Weiss-kun…!” the female students said, blushing.

“Weiss…!” the male students said, backing away.

Even the vice principal, who had been wearing a smile like an axis of evil, had small wrinkles run between her brows.

“So… you were out of sight because…!”

However, Weiss seemed to care nothing for the reactions around him.

After entering the classroom, he looked at only one person.

“Are you all right, Leopin?”

“Weiss…”

“I know better than anyone that you are in the right. So there is no need to apologize.”

“B… but…! But because of me, even you will be punished by all the classmates, Weiss…!”

Weiss exaggeratedly shrugged at Leopin, who looked as though he might start crying at any moment.

“That would be a problem. I like punishing others, but I hate being punished.”

At the word “punishment,” Vice Principal Mothers snapped back to herself.

“Th-that’s right, mothers! I was going to punish Weiss-kun and Leopin-kun, mothers!

Now, everyone, do it, mothers! Beat them to a pulp until the two of them cry and apologize, mothers!”

The vice principal thrust her long, devil-like nails at the two boys.

Weiss stood back-to-back with Leopin.

Leopin was trembling as he imagined the violence that would now rain down on them, but Weiss did not move in the slightest.

With an expression full of composure, he took a boxing stance.

“Fighting only two people was not even enough for a warm-up. It looks like I can finally enjoy myself after so long.”

With that one line, everyone finally realized it.

The students around them looked back and forth many times between the upperclassmen collapsed at their feet and Weiss’s face.

“Come to think of it, Weiss-kun’s face doesn’t have a single scratch on it!?”

“These two, who are the Hero’s classmates, are such violent thugs that even adults can’t handle them! And yet…!?”

“To take on two upperclassmen like that and beat them one-sidedly…!”

“A… amazing…! Weiss-kun wasn’t just good at studying and sports, but strong in fights too…!”

“So wonderful…! He’s just like a knight…!”

The female students blushed in rapture, as though the prince they admired had appeared.

The male students turned pale, as though a legendary school gang leader had appeared.

“I do intend to hold back, but against this many opponents, I might accidentally unleash a serious blow.

Anyone who does not mind being sent to the infirmary may come at me.”

With this one line from Weiss, the classmates completely lost their will to fight.

The male students became as meek as borrowed cats, and the female students made a huge commotion, shouting, “Kyaa! Weiss-sama!”

The school building rang with the end-of-day chime.

The two boys walked side by side along the first-floor connecting corridor.

“You saved me, Weiss. Thanks.”

“Think nothing of it. Even so, Vice Principal Mothers’ bullying is getting worse and worse.”

“Yeah. I don’t care what happens to me, but…”

“You mean that girl from the Saint Department?”

“Yeah. That girl isn’t only being bullied by the Hero’s followers.

It seems Vice Principal Mothers is bullying her too… and because of that, she’s apparently all alone even within the Saint Department.”

At this elementary school, female students from Saint families with a certain level of status were separated into the Saint Department.

In a separate school building on the grounds, they received lessons different from the normal ones.

Incidentally, students with advanced classes such as Heroes and Sages attended the same school building, the same classes, and the same lessons as commoner students for a certain reason.

“Hmm,” Weiss groaned.

“If she is in the Saint Department, that means she is at least not from commoner stock. And yet she is being bullied, which means that girl is apparently very much favored by the Hero.”

“Huh? Why?” Leopin asked.

“If he likes her, shouldn’t he stop his followers from bullying her?”

“People want to be mean to the girls they like.”

“Is that how it works?”

“Yes. It might be an emotion that Leopin, who spends all his time making things alone, cannot understand. But this is unusual. To think Leopin would show interest in a girl.”

“That girl is different. Even though she should be from a prestigious family of Saints, she was kind even to someone like me… She even comes to the chapel in the slums.”

“Haha, so that is why you fell for her.”

“Th-that’s not it!? I only saw that girl being bullied…!”

Leopin, whose face had turned bright red, changed the subject as though trying to cover it up.

“M-more importantly, how did you do it!?”

“How did I do what?”

“You beat up two upperclassmen without a scratch, right? I got beaten without being able to do anything…”

“It’s a secret.”

Weiss smiled meaningfully and took a cloth out of his pocket.

That cloth was a mysterious cloth.

It was palm-sized, about as large as a handkerchief, but when spread out, it was as large as a curtain.

It was gray, and just when it seemed to shine white like an aurora, it also looked blacker than the curtain of night.

Leopin’s eyes widened.

“Is this… the ‘Evil Remains Cloth’…!?”

“Yes. It is something obtained extremely rarely when you defeat evil spirit-type monsters such as wraiths. My father received it from the king, and it was in the mansion’s treasure vault.”

“Amazing, it’s an ultra-rare item! If you cover yourself with this, you become invisible, right!?”

“Yes, though apparently its effect can only be used twice. I already used it once, so there is one use left.”

Leopin’s eyes grew so round they nearly popped out.

“D-don’t tell me… you used this on the upperclassmen…!?”

Weiss winked as though to say, “Exactly.”

“Yes. I guided them into attacking each other, and after they punched each other until they could no longer move, I finished them off.”

However, Leopin returned a look mixed with shock and dissatisfaction.

“U-using something like that in a fight is cowardly, isn’t it!?”

“Is it? Then would you say it is not cowardly for two upperclassmen to gang up on a lowerclassman in a fight?”

“Th-that’s…!”

“An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. I think there is nothing shameful about facing absurdity with absurdity.”

“But why…? Why did you go that far for me? You even used a valuable rare item that can only be used twice, for someone like me…”

Thinking that Weiss would definitely be scolded if his father found out, Leopin’s heart ached as though it were his own problem.

However, Weiss smiled back without a care.

“A treasure left unused at home, or the crisis of my best friend right in front of me… there is no need to even compare which is more important, is there?”

It was the finest smile, one so dazzling that even Leopin turned bright red.
