The day after being requested by the Japan Business Federation vice chairman to dispatch an investigation team to the Somalia Dungeon, Yatsuka Mai sat at her executive desk in the director’s office from early in the morning, typing an email with a grim expression.
The content of the email was, of course, regarding the investigation team. She was instructing the head of the Special Task Division, who handled troublesome matters related to dungeons, to make preparations for the team.
Having finished sending the email, Yatsuka checked the clock. It was coming up on ten o’clock.
Her expression suddenly brightening, Yatsuka launched her PC’s browser and accessed a major video streaming site.
It was right around the time for A-rank adventurer Hayato’s dungeon stream to begin.
Hayato’s cheerful voice echoed from the PC speakers.
“Morning, everyone! I’m A-rank adventurer Hayato! Today, following our last stream, we’ll be doing a dungeon attack with the members of [A-generation]! Today’s stage is—”
The camera switched, and a group of five girls appeared on the screen. Numerous gravestones were visible in the background.
“Yanaka Dungeon!!” shouted Haruka, the leader of A-generation. Hayato stepped into the frame right on cue, lining up next to Haruka.
“Yanaka Dungeon is famous for the appearance of undead, but are the A-generation girls going to be okay?”“I’m kind of bad with them…” said Haruka. The viewers reacted immediately.
“Well, who knows? I guess we’ll find out once we go inside. Let’s start the dungeon attack right away!”
Hayato and the others entered the gaping entrance of the dungeon located inside Yanaka Cemetery. Passing right through the transfer room without stopping, it looked like they were tackling the first stratum.
Yatsuka followed Hayato with gentle eyes.
“Alright, skeletons have appeared right away! Can the A-generation members fight them?”“Eeeh,” said leader Haruka as she stepped forward.
The skeletons approached Haruka while clattering and rattling.
“Nooo way. Scary! [Holy Light]!”
A dazzling light was released from Haruka’s hands, enveloping the skeleton’s body. The moment it did, the skeleton collapsed like a cut string, turning into a mere pile of bones before eventually vanishing into smoke and leaving behind a magic stone.
Seeing the last comment, Yatsuka’s expression turned grim.
Hayato glanced at the comment section on his smartphone, picked out only the favorable posts to read aloud, and kept reacting to them. Anti comments were thoroughly ignored.
However, today’s antis were persistent. While the A-generation members took turns putting skeletons to rest, they kept the comments going endlessly.
“What’s with this guy! How rude!”
Yatsuka raised her voice at her PC. Most of the comment section reacted similarly to Yatsuka.
Yet the antis didn’t stop.
A furrow formed between Hayato’s brows.
Hayato, having reached his limit of patience, engaged with the antis.
“It seems like a lot of people are misunderstanding things, but the reason Somalia Dungeon’s streams are getting views is just because people can watch gory footage, or so a dungeon streaming critic acquaintance of mine said. There’s no sophisticated combat using skills and magic like what we do. Japan’s sophisticated viewers don’t watch amateurish fights by some old-generation former C-rank adventurer.”
The A-generation members nodded along to Hayato’s words.
However, the antis wouldn’t back down.
“Hmph. Of course, we can push forward with clearing the Somalia Dungeon without any issues either. After all, we’re A-rank adventurers who passed rigorous exams. It’s just that whether or not we go to Somalia is something the Adventurer’s Association decides. They probably won’t dispatch an investigation team, though. I don’t really see any benefit in it.”
Yatsuka wore a complicated expression at Hayato’s words. It was because she had just given instructions to organize a Somalia Dungeon investigation team moments ago.
“Hahaha! You guys are getting way ahead of yourselves! The Association hasn’t announced anything yet, you know. Well, if Gaston Friedman is stepping out, the only one in Japan who can rival him is probably me.”
Hayato wore an expression that suggested he wasn’t entirely displeased.
“Well, the topic got derailed thanks to the antis, but we’re going to keep going with the dungeon attack! Let’s press forward!”“Yes!”
After that, Hayato and the A-generation members advanced through the Yanaka Dungeon according to the clearing guide and ended the stream right after defeating the floor boss of the fifth stratum.
Yatsuka watched the scene unfold with a somewhat troubled look on her face.
