The emergency room looked like a “crime scene”—Qin Yun had been doused with a bucket of pig’s blood, so he remained stunned and unresponsive for quite a while.
The doctors had never seen such a spectacle and stood there dumbfounded.
Qin Qianyun, her head still bandaged, rushed over and hurriedly steadied the fainting Jiang Yuyao, “Mom… Mom… are you okay?”
“Yun, are you all right? Doctor, go check on my brother—wasn’t he in the middle of surgery?”
“If this blood was thrown on him, won’t my brother get an acute infection?!“
“Qin Jiang, if anything happens to Yun, our family will never let you off!”
Qin Qianyun panicked—Qin Yun was in surgery, how could Qin Jiang dare do this?
This was clearly an attempt on Qin Yun’s life!
The doctor looked awkward—Qin Yun had been his long-term patient, and although he was ill, it hadn’t been to the extent of needing surgery and transfusions every time.
But how could something like this be exposed publicly?
Wouldn’t his medical career be ruined here?
“This… this… Mr. Qin Yun…he…”
The doctor was torn.
Qin Jiang stepped forward, grabbed Qin Yun by the collar and pulled him off the operating table. The frail young man was covered in blood, his features barely recognizable, and he was in very poor condition.
Ssshhla—
The sound of clothing being ripped came as Qin Jiang tore open Qin Yun’s hospital gown with one hand. The young man’s abdomen was spotless, without a trace—no signs of a recent surgery at all.
Clean as a whistle, not even a scar.
“Tsk, an infection, you say?”
“You would at least need a wound for that to happen. Miss Qin went out of her way and paid a lot to bring me from Huajing University to be a walking blood bag for Qin Yun—I have faithfully served Young Master Qin and the blood supply was more than enough.”
“Now it’s time to settle the bill.”
Qin Jiang tossed aside the “weak” Qin Yun and shrugged at Qin Qianyun.
Qin Qianyun and Jiang Yuyao looked at Qin Yun’s unmarked abdomen—their expressions were extremely vivid.
But whatever they were thinking no longer mattered to Qin Jiang.
He couldn’t care less.
“Yun, what on earth is going on?”
“Have you been lying to me, Mom, and the whole family about your illness this whole time?”
Qin Qianyun couldn’t believe it. Her gaze at Qin Yun was filled with despair and she felt like she was about to collapse.
Her heart felt instantly squeezed.
Her breathing nearly stopped, the light in her eyes was being worn away bit by bit.
Qin Yun… had been lying all along?
Then all the times she helped him capture Qin Jiang to force him to give blood—what were they?
Not only had she repeatedly hurt Qin Jiang to make him take the blame and give blood, she had bought into the family’s indoctrination, convinced that Qin Jiang had “cursed” Ah Yun and therefore had to atone for it.
But Qin Jiang clearly hadn’t done anything wrong.
Looking back over the four years since Qin Jiang returned to the Qin household, their mother often punished him with family discipline, calling him “inherently bad and ill-bred,” resorting to whipping and beatings.
Gradually she became accustomed to watching coldly from the sidelines.
Even so, when Qin Jiang and she were both at Huajing University, he still trailed after her cheerfully.
If she skipped class, he would take notes for her and give them to her. He even did her homework to an excellent standard.
If she said she was hungry, he would go out of his way to bring food he cooked himself, exactly matching the dishes she loved at her favorite restaurants.
She loved spicy food, so Qin Jiang learned many Sichuan and Hunan dishes to cook for her—yet she never knew what Qin Jiang himself liked to eat.
Qin Qianyun was willful and free-spirited. When she got into trouble and was nearly kidnapped, Qin Jiang was the one who handled it.
When she made mistakes on campus, Qin Jiang cleaned up after her. Over time, she took it for granted.
Qin Jiang’s kindness was plain to see, yet she nitpicked his flaws, even resenting him following her around to protect her because he looked poor and unrefined.
Thinking of this, Qin Qianyun wished she could slap herself hard.
Had she really been so vicious to Qin Jiang all these years?
She came to her senses and instinctively tried to approach Qin Jiang, but his cold look stabbed her…
“Fifth Sis, what are you saying? I don’t understand.”
“How could my illness be fake? I… I chose conservative treatment, but it’s very risky during treatment, so we needed reserved blood packs.”
“Brother Qin Jiang, I know you resent me for the family’s asking you to stand in to marry the Yan family’s young mistress on my behalf… Brother Qin Jiang, you can hit or scold me anytime, but Mom is old—taking revenge in public like this will scare her.”
“Mom has cared for me all these years; she’s not in good health.”
“Grandma also knows about the conservative treatment—I only hid it because I was afraid Mom would worry too much…“
“If Brother Qin Jiang thinks my conservative treatment and not having surgery was a ploy to trick you into giving blood, you could have refused to help—why… why bully someone like this?”
Qin Yun looked stunned for a second, then quickly found a new way to get himself out of this pickle.
He was already soaked in pig’s blood and the metallic smell filled the room. His furrowed brows made him look so weak, he seemed about to faint.
As Qin Yun spoke, tears fell in big pearl-like drops.
A man shedding tears made him look even more frail.
Qin Jiang glanced at him with disgust—this theatrical, teary-eyed “innocent” act was something he could never learn!
No wonder he was never favored in the Qin household.
He was unfortunately too thin-skinned and too stubborn.
Couldn’t pull off being a male sycophant at all.
Jiang Yuyao had just been frightened and now saw Qin Jiang as the instigator.
She steadied herself, impatient and full of revulsion as she pointed directly at Qin Jiang. “Qin Jiang, how did I give birth to such a heartless monster?”
“Luckily my Yun is fine, otherwise I’d kill you!”
Jiang Yuyao stepped forward and helped Qin Yun to his feet.
Without question, she believed Qin Yun’s words.
Qin Qianyun stood behind them, her gaze dim and edged with cold hostility, her expression unreadable.
Others didn’t know.
But Qin Qianyun had specifically come to care for Qin Yun during his last episode and surgery.
His abdomen had been clearly bandaged, the dressing stained with blood. He had been so weak that any pull on the wound caused pain, and it had broken her heart…
But now she saw with her own eyes that Qin Yun’s abdomen not only lacked surgical wounds, it didn’t even have a scar.
The facts before her made it clear.
Qin Yun was plainly lying—he had deceived her and the whole Qin family.
This time Qin Qianyun could no longer hold back.
She suddenly grabbed Qin Yun and sneered coldly, “Qin Yun, haven’t you lied enough?”
“There’s no conservative treatment—you aren’t sick at all.”
“You lied to everyone.”
“You were afraid Qin Jiang would come home and take everything from you, so you faked your illness to get him chased out, right?”
Qin Qianyun stared at Qin Yun, her values shattered in that moment.
She had once trusted wholeheartedly and doted on her kind, honest little brother.
He turned out to be a brilliant liar!
And even when caught, he kept inventing lies to patch things up.
After all, Qin Qianyun was the arrogant, haughty Fifth Young Mistress of the Qin family.
Realizing she’d been kept in the dark and had repeatedly played the villain so he could use Qin Jiang as a blood bag… Her brother had made her a laughingstock.
Like a fool, she had been toyed with in circles.
She was furious beyond measure.
After saying that, Qin Qianyun shoved Qin Yun and, with her other hand, slapped him across the face.
Smack!
A crisp slap resonated.
The blow turned Qin Yun’s head and his ears rang.
Mrs. Qin was nearly driven mad with fright. Enraged, she lunged to embrace Qin Yun and shielded him with her body.
That stopped Qin Qianyun from delivering another slap.
She was furious. “Number five, you’ve lost your mind!“
“Yun is your biological brother—he’s always been kind and honest! How could he lie?”
“You came here with Qin Jiang just now—did he put a curse on you on the way here?”
Mrs. Qin was about to explode with anger—it’s all Qin Jiang’s fault! If only he were dead!
Unfortunately, her younger son still needed him.
Qin Qianyun sneered. Her forehead was still bandaged, and that was a wound caused by her own mother.
In that moment, she seemed to finally grasp how hard it was for Qin Jiang to survive in the Qin household.
Constantly fearing abuse and beatings.
Always being blamed and insulted—if she were Qin Jiang, she probably would’ve left the Qin family long ago.
Yet he remained kind and uncomplainingly treated the five sisters so well.
In truth, Qin Jiang was such a good person.
What a good younger brother.
“Mom, you’re the one who’s lost your mind.”
“You’re the one who’s been cursed!”
Qin Qianyun finished coldly and looked at Qin Jiang, who had been watching like an outsider the whole time.
Thinking of what she had done to him, her chest twisted with pain.
By contrast, Qin Jiang couldn’t be bothered to spare Qin Qianyun even an extra glance.
She forced herself forward despite the squeezing pain in her chest and handed a card to Qin Jiang.
“Jiang, this is what I promised to give you.”
“I’m sorry, Fifth Sister misunderstood you, can you…”
Qin Jiang snatched the card and nonchalantly raised an eyebrow, “What’s the PIN?”
Mrs. Qin watched the scene, her gaze darkening. Qin Jiang—old habits die hard after all!
“…Your… your birthday.”
Qin Qianyun turned pale, her brows tightly furrowed, her heart hanging in her throat.
“Did you mean 0607? That’s wrong.”
“June 7th—that’s Qin Yun’s birthday!”
Qin Jiang sneered. Although he and Qin Yun were fraternal twins, their births were timed around midnight.
By coincidence, he was born the previous day, and Qin Yun was born after midnight.
Their birthdays were never on the same day.
But even in the four years since he returned to the Qin family, out of convenience, the Qin family had always celebrated his birthday on the same day as Qin Yun’s.
It wasn’t merely oversight. They simply didn’t care. It wasn’t important to them.
Just like the PIN of the card that Qin Qianyun just gave to him. It was clearly set to Qin Yun’s birthday, yet she claimed confidently that it was his birthday. Did she think that would appease him?
To Qin Jiang, it was utterly ridiculous.
Qin Qianyun’s fingers trembled. She couldn’t even hold the card steady.
The bank card fell and landed in the filthy, bloody mess on the floor.
Just like the relationship between Qin Jiang and Qin Qianyun.
No matter how you try to clean it.
It can’t return to a clean slate.
Qin Qianyun walked out of the emergency room like the walking dead. Even when she brushed past their eldest sister Qin Moyun—who had rushed over—she showed no reaction.
Qin Moyun had just stepped into the emergency room and was shocked by the bloody scene before her.
She immediately saw Qin Yun being protected behind Jiang Yuyao like a mother hen shielding her chick.
She hurried forward. “Yun, did Qin Jiang bully you again?”
Qin Moyun’s instinctive rush to condemn Qin Jiang was enough to make Song Jie puke. What the hell was wrong with these people?
“Oh yeah, it was me.”
“Didn’t he need a blood pack? I have more than enough here.”
“Song Jie!”
The brothers’ tacit understanding revealed itself in an instant.
Besides the buckets, Song Jie had even prepared a backpack-style manual pesticide sprayer used by farmers.
No need to guess—the sprayer was filled with fresh, raw pig’s blood.
When Qin Jiang glanced at him, Song Jie took out his camera and started snapping wildly.
“Qin Moyun, the great show you missed—I’ll make it up to you for free!”
“Come on, look at the camera—”
“I’ll splash it all over your face!!”
Qin Moyun was a clean freak—when the pig’s blood splashed down on her, she completely broke down!!!
She was still standing there, but her insides had shattered for some time.
