Once we secured an inn to use as our base, we headed to the Adventurers’ Guild.

The reason was—

“Uuuu! This is so exciting! Changing jobs, huh!”

It was just as Misha had said in an excited tone.

We were going to change jobs now.

Since I could sample skills here and there, I would wander through various jobs while gathering up excellent skills.

There was no benefit to Misha changing jobs, but if she did not change jobs, she would become unable to form a party with me because of the level difference.

“…Sorry, Misha. For making you go along with this.”

“Huh!? You don’t have to worry about that!”

Misha laughed with a nishishishi!

“Besides, you know, I’m pretty into this myself!”

“You are?”

“I was a mage this whole time, after all! I’m really looking forward to swinging a sword around and going wild!”

Her eyes sparkled as she said something dangerous.

…Well, I understood how she felt.

It was true that I was a little excited too, regardless of things like skill gathering.

“So, Misha, you’re going to be a warrior?”

“Yeah. I was thinking I’d get some defensive skills or something. It’d be better than nothing, right?”

Then Misha continued like this.

“Really, I guess a ‘priest’ or something would be best, though…”

“Yeah…”

Misha and I sighed at the same time.

Priests, who could use healing magic, were the cornerstone of a party. Whether one was there or not made a huge difference in the sense of security.

But we could not change jobs to priest.

Because priests needed to have “faith in a god.” As for faith, we—

Misha suddenly began saying this in a strange cadence.

“Do yooou belieeeve in Gooood?”

“I don’t believe… What about you, Misha?”

“I don’t believe either… Nishishishi!”

And so, we did not have the qualifications to become priests.

“Ios, you’re going to become a scout after all, right?”

“Yeah. I want to get assassin skills.”

Assassin, the advanced job of scout. An expert with daggers. Daggers were also “swords,” so they had a synergistic effect with the skill “Sword Saint.”

On top of that, my will had become even firmer because of what we had just talked about.

The named monster, Largorin the Ice Guard.

—Apparently, there had been a time when it was defeated in one blow by hitting its back with “Backstab.”

Backstab was one of the assassin skills.

…I might have a chance to hunt Largorin too.

While talking about that, we reached the Adventurers’ Guild.

We headed to the counter and spoke to the receptionist.

“We’d like to change jobs.”

“A job change, I see. Then please pay fifty thousand gold.”

…It cost money.

Once we finished the payment,

“Then your adventurer card, please.”

The receptionist said that and held out her hand.

An adventurer card was a card with one’s name and rank written on it. Whenever one went through procedures at the guild, they asked for it often.

I felt a chill when I took it out.

Wait… My job was Sword Saint, but surely it was not written on the card, right…?

A D-rank adventurer being a Sword Saint was unheard of.

When I timidly looked at it, only “Warrior” was written in the job field.

Most likely, only basic jobs were displayed in this field. The job change to Sword Saint—an advanced job—could be done without going through the guild. So, from the guild’s side, they could not grasp it.

“I have certainly received it.”

The receptionist replied indifferently, then inserted my card into the equipment on the counter.

“Ios-sama, which job would you like?”

“Scout, please.”

“Understood.”

As soon as she said that, the receptionist operated the screen on the equipment.

Immediately afterward, I felt something strange in my body. It was like the “strength” surrounding my body was unraveling. Or like the transparent armor I had been wearing disappeared.

An incredibly insecure sensation attacked me.

This was a job change—losing the power I had built up until now.

The receptionist pulled out the card and presented it to me.

“Please confirm your card and status, Ios-sama.”

When I looked at the card I received, “Scout” was certainly written in the job field.

I also checked the status field.

Name: Ios
Level: 1 (Scout)
Attack Power: 109(+510) Dire Wolf Broadsword
Defense Power: 96
Magic Power: 117
Skills: Schrödinger’s Cat, Sword Saint, War Cry, Heavy Blow Lv3, Fighting Spirit Lv3

It had certainly changed to scout.

My level was also 1.

…Level 1. Only warrior had been raised to level 10 at adventurer school before graduation. So, it was a very nostalgic sensation.

Next, Misha changed jobs.

“Warrior, please!”

And thus warrior Misha appeared.

…She still looked like a mage, so nothing had changed, though…

But Misha, who had been checking her status,

“Hmm!? Hmmmm!?”

made a strange noise.

“What’s wrong?”

“Listen, my staff’s color turned gray!?”

“Staff?”

She was probably talking about the equipment field in her status. I only carried the Dire Wolf Broadsword around, but—its color was the same as always.

“The values that went up from my equipment have become 0 toooo…”

The receptionist cut in there.

“Um, dear customer. A mage’s staff cannot be equipped by a warrior. Could that be why?”

“Nishi!? Is that so!?”

I see. So if something could not be equipped, it was shown in gray and the numerical correction disappeared too…

Most likely, Misha’s status was probably like this.

Name: Misha
Level: 1 (Warrior)
Attack Power: 110(+0) Malicious Fairy Staff
Defense Power: 107(+140) Malicious Fairy Robe
Magic Power: 105(+0) Malicious Fairy Staff
Skills: Ruler of the Four Great Elements, Magic (Water) Lv1, Magic (Fire) Lv1, Magic (Wind) Lv1, Magic (Earth) Lv1, Magic (Non-Elemental) Lv1, Magic Power Recovery Lv1

I said to Misha.

“We’ll have to replace your equipment either way. Let’s go look now.”

“Ah, that’s true!”

Misha, who recovered in an instant, replied amiably.

“Let’s go, let’s go! Maybe I’ll make it an axe, what should I do!”

“Wait, an axe?”

We left the guild and headed to a weapon and armor shop.
