We headed to the city’s—Frast’s—largest weapon and armor shop.
On the way there, I asked Misha.
“Misha, you attended Piptat Magic Academy, not adventurer school, right?”
“I did, but?”
“Did you do job training?”
At adventurer school, they conducted “basic training as an adventurer.”
Through that, one learned the basics of all basic jobs. I was a warrior, but I had studied the basics of magic too.
Thanks to that, I could change jobs.
Misha answered.
“Of course I did? I practiced with swords and stuff properly.”
Misha made a motion like she was swinging a weapon around.
That was unexpected.
“They do that sort of thing at a magic academy?”
“There was a course for adventurers, you see. I took that.”
“There was a course like that at the Magic Academy…”
“…Well, people like that were rare at Piptat Magic Academy, so there weren’t many people in it, though…”
While touching her pointed hat, Misha smiled shyly.
“Misha, why did you take a course for adventurers?”
Putting together what I had heard in Piptat, she seemed to have been an excellent student who was held in quite high regard by her professors.
Misha answered.
“Well, because I always thought adventurers seemed interesting.”
“And how was it after you actually became one?”
“Hmm… In my previous party, it was kind of iffy, but—”
There, Misha suddenly raised her voice and continued.
“Now it’s fun!”
Misha laughed with a nishishishi!
“It’s fun thanks to you, Ios! I’m glad I became an adventurer! Thanks!”
“Haha, I’m happy to hear you say that.”
I responded while feeling a little embarrassed.
No, I actually was embarrassed. I had not expected her to suddenly thank me, after all…
While having that conversation, we arrived at Labast Weapon Shop.
“Welcome.”
We bowed to the employee who came out, then browsed the shop.
“Ooh~! …There are so many swords and axes and spears…!”
Misha stared at the displayed weapons in an excited manner.
“I wish I could lend you my equipment, Misha…”
Unfortunately, that was not possible.
Equipment made from monster ore underwent a “blood seal.” In other words, it was owner registration. Only I could use my weapons and armor.
Misha turned back to me.
“Ios, which equipment are you going to keep using as-is?”
“The Dire Wolf Broadsword and Great Green Scale Shield will stay as they are. I think I’ll buy a different suit of armor, though.”
A scout, whose creed was speed, could not equip metal armor.
Leather armor, then.
The question was how high-performance a piece I should buy. I wanted to accelerate my leveling this time too. Then should I buy good equipment?
“What are you going to buy, Misha?”
“Hmm…”
After scratching her head, Misha said,
“I have to buy a weapon and shield, but—”
She tugged at the collar of her robe and continued like this.
“What should I do about this robe?”
It was D-rank equipment made from troll ore. Even though it was a robe, its defensive power was high. Mass-produced plate mail would probably be no comparison.
Incidentally, whether it was a robe or leather armor, “monster ore” was used to make monster equipment.
Even though it was not metal?
Where was it used?
That was the feeling, but apparently, they crushed the ore into powder, dissolved it in a special liquid, and soaked the cloth or leather that became the material for weapons and armor with it.
…I was not a blacksmith either, so I did not know the details.
“I don’t think a warrior fighting in a robe is bad, but—since you’re going to the trouble of changing jobs, why not use equipment that looks more warrior-like?”
“Right!”
Misha nodded happily.
…After that, after hemming and hawing over this and that, Misha’s equipment was decided.
Apparently, she decided against an axe after all.
Misha, who had hardened herself in rigid armor, had also removed her usual pointed hat, so she did not look like the same person.
When I looked at Misha fidgeting like she was not used to wearing it, it somehow started to feel funny.
“How does it feel?”
“Uuuu… Somehow, it feels ticklish all over…”
Misha said that and smiled shyly.
We put together her equipment with high-performance items. There was no doubt it was exceptional equipment for a level 1 warrior, but—
“Wouldn’t it have been fine to go a little higher?”
We were fairly rich, after all.
Misha tilted her head.
“Hmm… But warrior equipment is bulky, so I’m thinking of selling it once the leveling here is over.”
“I see.”
“If I need it, I can just buy it again, so I don’t think I need anything that grand.”
That had its own point. But—
“When you put it that way, I can’t buy anything too expensive either…”
“Nishishishi! You don’t have to worry about that, Ios! Because you’ll be seriously equipped, I can use casual equipment! Wouldn’t it be fine to buy while thinking about reusing it for other jobs too?”
True…
I spoke to the employee.
“Excuse me, do you have B-rank leather armor?”
“B-rank leather, is it—”
At the place the employee guided me to, there was a sturdy-looking dark-brown suit of leather armor.
“This is ‘Raging Bull Leather Armor.’”
Raging Bull. If I remembered right, it was a giant rampaging bull. A monster that flew into a rage at the slightest stimulus and completely destroyed its surroundings.
The price was fourteen million.
It was a fairly intense price, but I decided to pay it for the future.
“I’ll take this.”
My status became like this.
Since the Great Green Scale Shield would be added to this, the equipment’s defensive power would become +425 with another +110 added.
…This really was not equipment a level 1 should be using…
Well, it was an advance investment for smoothly leveling up. I decided not to worry about it.
Looking at me clad in dark-brown leather armor, Misha opened her mouth.
“That equipment suits you too!”
“Thanks.”
When I switched equipment, my heart could not help but stir.
…That said, today was at an awkward time. The proper thing would probably be to rest already and work hard starting tomorrow.
“Misha, let’s go hard tomorrow!”
“Yeah, let’s level up like crazy!”
Warrior Misha replied with a bright smile.
And so, our leveling began.
