Four boys pushed the door open. The leader had short hair and a hawk nose, and was also holding a birthday cake. He was smiling but his eyes swept the table coldly.

Seeing there were no boys right beside Li Luoran, he finally revealed a big smile.

The girls who had been joking and teasing immediately became tense. The girl in red stood up and went forward to meet him.

“Huang Tian, what brings you here?”

Du Dandan whispered to Su Pingnan, “The vice-principal”s son.“

Su Pingnan nodded and said, “So…Andy Lau?”

Du Dandan stifled a laugh and nodded, “Mhm.”

Huang Tian ignored the girl in red. His gaze swept across the table, lingering on Su Pingnan for a few seconds before settling on the somewhat nervous Li Luoran.

“Luoran, it”s your birthday today. I had a hard time finding you. I already booked a table at Peace Hotel like I mentioned to you, but didn’t see you there.“

Saying that, he placed the cake on the table, glanced at the beers on the table, smiled, and said to someone behind him, “Number 4, go get a few bottles of baijiu.”

One boy walked out.

The alcohol was brought in. Huang Tian filled his own glass and raised it, then said to another boy, “Pour them drinks. Girls get half a glass, boys get a full glass.”

That boy nodded and began pouring one by one. Yang Pu looked a bit pale but said nothing, and obediently took his cup.

When it came to Li Luoran, Huang Tian shook his head, “Luoran can’t drink, so skip her.” The boy nodded and continued pouring.

The round of drinks reached Su Pingnan. He smiled and set his glass upside down on the table.

“I’ve had enough today, so I won’t drink.”

Huang Tian froze, “Not giving face?”

Su Pingnan smiled, “I’ve had enough today, so I won’t drink.”

Huang Tian“s expression shifted. He made a mocking little wag of the finger toward Su Pingnan, “You don’t look familiar at all. What’s your surname?”

“Su.” Su Pingnan was calm, his gaze clear. He said in a flat tone, “It”s rude of you to point and judge like that.“

Huang Tian gave Su Pingnan a long look, then glanced at Li Luoran.

Li Luoran grew a little nervous. When she saw Huang Tian look at her she shook her head, meaning “I don”t know him, don’t take it out on someone innocent.“

Huang Tian nodded. He noticed Su Pingnan’s steady bearing and solid build, so he smiled, “Alright, pour some water for Brother Su.”

Su Pingnan watched how Huang Tian had entered with such dominance that the two other boys were almost cowed into silence.

He sighed inwardly. Everyone else was going to survive this, but that lovesmitten Yang Pu was certainly doomed now.

“Come on, let’s wish Luoran a happy birthday.” After saying this, Huang Tian downed his cup in one go.

Yang Pu hesitated. Huang Tian glanced at him, “My brother, one can always get another woman, but you only have one life. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.”

Yang Pu turned deathly pale. He looked at Li Luoran and then at Huang Tian, grit his teeth, and downed his drink too.

Su Pingnan looked at Du Dandan and blinked, as if to ask, “Are you sure this guy is the one who claimed to be willing to die for his beloved?” Du Dandan sneered slightly and rolled her eyes dramatically.

After everyone had taken their drinks, Huang Tian beamed and took a small box from his chest before theatrically kneeling on one knee, raised it high and looked at Li Luoran: “Luoran, it’s your birthday. This is my gift to you. Be my girlfriend.” Saying that, he opened the box.

Inside was a ring: a platinum band set with an elongated-cut diamond that sparkled under the lights.

Du Dandan, who had been displeased with Huang Tian, instantly turned into a starry-eyed mess. Su Pingnan frowned — that glittering thing clearly had a strong effect.

Su Pingnan became unusually hesitant. He didn’t know how to woo girls, so he wasn’t sure if he should first go up and beat that arrogant guy into a bloody pulp, then openly start courting this stunning girl he felt was dangerously beautiful.

Li Luoran“s fair, jade-like cheeks flushed with a hint of red, making her look all the more exquisitely charming.

Her long neck shook slowly but firmly, “I don”t like you. We’re not right for each other.“

Huang Tian was in a foul mood today. He had prepared a month-long romantic plan, and on the day of execution, his goddess had vanished with her dorm mates.

Having already drunk a lot, Huang Tian, as he thought about his two years of relentless pursuit, could no longer contain his emotions. He suddenly grabbed Li Luoran’s arm and tried to force the ring onto her finger.

Su Pingnan’s gaze tightened and a flash of ruthlessness showed. A cruel smile spread across his lips as he rose to his full height and lunged at Huang Tian like a tiger.

Huang Tian felt his neck stiffen as his whole body was lifted into the air, then slammed hard onto the table. All he heard were the girls’ cries.

His three henchmen didn’t even have time to react. Almost simultaneously, they felt a sharp pain in their necks and everything went black for them.

Su Pingnan strode over, hoisted the soup-splattered Huang Tian up, and landed a heavy punch to his abdomen.

“OOF!” Huang Tian vomited everything he“d eaten that night all over the floor.

Su Pingnan moved aside nimbly, perfectly avoiding the filth. With his left hand, he grabbed Huang Tian by the hair, dragged him to the left wall of the private room, and with his right hand began hammering the back of his skull again and again.

Blood sprayed on the wall as if it were worthless, and Su Pingnan’s face remained cold and stern. He paid no heed to Huang Tian’s cries to spare him and did not stop, as if intending to beat him to death.

Su Pingnan’s strikes rose and fell like a hawk. His speed was astonishing. Before anyone could react, the scene had become blood-soaked. Li Luoran clamped her hand over her mouth, her pretty face drained of color.

“I remember who you are! You’re Wucheng’s Little Red Robe, you’re Su Pingnan!”

Du Dandan was exhilarated, her cheeks flushed. She had seen the way Su Pingnan fought before — it was him! No wonder he looked so familiar.
