This was the first time since he was reborn that he beat someone up. To his surprise, he felt relaxed for the first time in a long, long time.
Once he got into his groove, Su Pingnan stopped worrying about how to woo girls and just charged in according to his usual approach.
Huang Tian’s cries were hoarse. He watched his head repeatedly slam against the wall, his blood spraying and leaving shocking stains on the white wall.
He was truly scared—he feared this man would beat him to death.
“Do you admit defeat?”
“I do.”
“Stay away from her from now on, or I’ll kill you.”
Su Pingnan said this calmly, but everyone inexplicably felt he meant it.
“I promise, I promise!” Huang Ping couldn’t think of anything else—he just wanted to flee far from this killing-machine of a man.
Su Pingnan smirked inwardly—both hitting and being hit were a craft. The scene looked horrifying, but it was at most a minor injury. If he didn’t know how to control how much force he used each time, he would have killed a lot of people in his previous life.
The commotion in the private room had already attracted the diners outside. Han Bing stood at the door, dumbfounded at Su Pingnan’s overwhelming presence.
“Old Han, go find the manager and discuss compensation for anything that was damaged.”
“Okay.” Han Bing stepped aside to let a few terrified young men supporting each other pass, nodding in agreement.
Su Pingnan turned, picked up a beer from the table and poured it over his hands, washing away the dark red blood.
Then he pulled up a chair and sat down in front of Li Luoran.
Everyone fell silent, staring at him, wondering what he would do.
“Li Luoran, hello. I’m Su Pingnan from my family’s village in Wucheng, Tiannan Province. I do business in Wucheng and I’m reasonably successful. I have some loyal brothers. My strengths are honesty, decisiveness, and loyalty. I’d like to get to know you and be your friend.” Once he said this, the previously silent atmosphere turned oddly strange.
Du Dandan and the other girls suppressed their laughter, looking bewildered. They’d seen many pickup attempts, but never one that felt like negotiating with the underworld.
After failing to come up with a better approach and unwilling to wait any longer to make a move, Su Pingnan simply introduced himself the way he would when negotiating with an enemy. This was, across his two lifetimes, his first attempt at picking up a girl.
Li Luoran was silent. Her family was a middle-class one. She’d only seen people as imposing as Su Pingnan on TV. For some reason, she felt a strange emotion she didn’t understand.
Su Pingnan looked at the beautiful girl in front of him and grew a little anxious as he added, “My record is clean. Any bad reputation you hear are just rumors spread by others.”
Du Dandan snorted quietly. She couldn’t hold back at Su Pingnan’s blunt, manly style. Was he trying to chat up a girl or was he delivering a case briefing at the police station?
Li Luoran almost burst out laughing too. She glanced covertly at Su Pingnan, who was sitting upright, his handsome face wearing an extremely serious expression.
“Alright, we’re friends now.”
When Li Luoran said this, everyone was stunned. Su Pingnan’s next words made them even more bewildered, “Being my friend is a good thing—I won’t let you down.”
“We’re leaving now.” Li Luoran looked at the man in front of her, who was so passionately forward even though it was the first time they had ever met.
“Okay.” Su Pingnan stood, turned to Yang Pu and said seriously, “You can ask Du Dandan who I am. I’m not joking—if you act like Huang Tian, I’ll take your life.”
Yang Pu looked at Su Pingnan’s calm face and the bloodthirst hidden in his eyes, and nodded with a pale face.
Han Bing had already taken care of things and watched this eccentric courting method from his latest client with a strange look on his face. He really wanted to laugh but was afraid to.
As Li Luoran passed by Su Pingnan, she suddenly said, “This isn’t right. My dorm’s phone number is 021742… If you come to Shanghai again you can call me. I’ll treat you to a meal.”
Everyone was stunned. Du Dandan knew how many advances Li Luoran had rebuffed over her past two years in university. Yet she actually gave her number to this ‘bad guy’ today?
……
Most of the people at Li Luoran’s birthday were from the same dorm. After returning, everyone was quiet, as they went to wash up and tucked themselves into bed.
When the girls lay down, someone commented, “Today was pretty exciting,” and the conversation instantly opened up.
The girl in red was Zhao Xia. After changing, she lay on the top bunk and said, “I was nearly scared to death! Luoran, you’ve turned down so many guys these past two years—good-looking ones, rich ones. You didn’t even give your contact number to that senior who got recommended to study in the US! But now I realize why—you’ve got some strong taste for danger.”
Like a comedy duo, where there’s a serious man paired with a clown, another girl quietly added, “She does have strong tastes—she likes someone who can fight.”
Li Luoran changed into loose sleepwear and dried her damp hair. Her loose top revealed her a surprisingly deep curve in her chest.
Li Luoran pursed her lips and smiled, “Don’t spout nonsense—he’s just a very special person and I just wanted to make a friend.”
“He is special—especially fierce. I was terrified today. I thought he’d beat Huang Tian to death. But having someone like that as a boyfriend would definitely make me overflow with a sense of security,” Zhao Xia said, her gaze sparkling as she lay in bed.
“Du Dandan, you know him, right? Tell us what kind of person he is,” another girl chimed in.
Li Luoran’s movements paused and her ears perked up.
Du Dandan lay sprawled on her bed with no semblance of decorum, her mind filtering the rumors about Su Pingnan in Wucheng, and for a moment she didn’t know how to start.
“Come on, tell us!”
“Yeah, tell us!” The other girls chimed in curiously.
“He’s really fierce. He’s very, very famous—really famous—for not being a good guy,” Du Dandan began.
