The golden-brown fried fish stimulates the visual senses. I make a rolled omelet to go with it.
A savory and delicious rolled omelet.
On Earth, where I used to live, this rolled omelet was sometimes made sweet, but I prefer the savory Korean-style rolled omelet.
I finely chop green onions and make a visually appealing yellow rolled omelet and cook Doenjang, a fermented soybean paste, soup. It’s not a complicated soup. It’s a soup that focuses on the natural taste of doenjang and is flavored with clams.
Only some tofu and green onions are added.
Then, I add various seasoned vegetable side dishes sourced from the Greek City market. The side dishes harmonize with blue and brown colors. The taste resembles the freshness of fernbrake and spinach.
This makes it look like a real home-cooked meal.
“Here, it’s ready.”
“Hmm, it’s quite simple.”
As expected of a dragon.
She says something similar to Rurin, but fortunately, she’s more subdued than Rurin.
“What is this?”
“Fried fish. You probably haven’t had it before.”
“That’s right. Having this as my last meal. Well, it doesn’t matter.”
The Red Dragon said something strange and then brought the entire fried fish to her mouth.
“Hey, you should remove the bones…”
Crunch, crunch.
That was foolish of me. I immediately regretted it.
A dragon can eat a cow whole, bones and all. Why would fish bones be a concern?
Rurin was the same.
For a moment, I forgot this woman was a dragon.
“Oh, well-fried. What is this thing called? It’s crispy.”
It actually looked tastier seeing her crunch it whole.
The dragon nodded and then brought the doenjang soup to her mouth.
Pfff-!
But this didn’t pass her taste test. She spat it out violently.
“Hey!”
“What is this? It tastes awful!”
She uttered the typical line of someone encountering doenjang for the first time in another world.
Rurin has been trained with doenjang and eats it without issue now, but her initial reaction was like this too.
“Tastes awful? Try savoring it!”
“Hmph.”
The Red Dragon shrugged and then brought the rolled omelet to her mouth.
“What is this? It’s so fluffy!”
Her eyes lit up, indicating she liked it.
“I thought it was simple… but it’s quite good. Not bad for a last meal.”
The dragon soon finished eating. She put down the fork and drank some water. Then she showed that self-deprecating smile again. What’s with that self-mocking smile since a while ago?
However, this time the smile didn’t last long. War had broken out. Rurin, who had been sleeping, woke up.
“What the, I wake up and why is there an old red thing in the restaurant! What is thiiiis!”
“Kyaaa?”
The dragon who was sleeping started rampaging. As she began to wake up, she must have sensed the presence of another dragon and, realizing it was a Red Dragon she disliked, immediately took action.
Rurin kicked at the arm of the Red Dragon sitting at the bar table without any warning.
-Thud!
The impact sent the Red Dragon crashing into the adjacent chair and rolling onto the floor. It was an uncontrollable scene.
“How dare a Red touch my stuff! I win! Huh?”
Rurin drew a victory V and smiled brightly. It was a triumphant smile. But soon her expression changed. With a twisted face, she ran towards me.
“You, you, you!”
“Forget about you or whatever, how can you just kick a customer while they’re eating? Hey!”
Of course, there was no real force behind it. It wasn’t magic either. It was just a light kick as a greeting because of her hostility towards the Red Dragon. But it would be problematic to do that in a restaurant, even if it might be okay on a battlefield.
However, even while being scolded, Rurin shook her head vigorously.
“That’s not it!”
“Huh? If that’s not it, what is it?”
“Over there, over there!”
Rurin tugged on my arm and pointed to the floor where the Red Dragon had fallen.
“Blood! It’s soaked with blood!”
“Huh?”
Just as Rurin said.
Red blood was pooling in front of the bar table. It kept seeping out. The source of the blood was the Red Dragon’s back. The amount of blood was enough to soak the entire restaurant floor.
Blood was gushing from her back at a pace similar to water being pumped from a sump pump.
It didn’t make sense for Rurin’s kick to have caused this. Rurin had kicked her arm, but the blood was coming from her back.
Even if there were a trap set on the floor, it didn’t make sense for a dragon to bleed this much.
“I told you it was the end. The preservation magic broke because of the kick. It hurts. It hurts! After being betrayed and fleeing, I felt your presence and came. I just wanted to see if true love exists. Dying like this after being betrayed feels so foolish. Anyway, dying was just a matter of time. It was a futile life…”
The Red Dragon, talking about her death as if it were someone else’s matter, now had hollow eyes. I began to understand why she kept saying it was the end.
The wound on her back was truly severe. Blood wasn’t just gushing out for no reason. It seemed her internal organs were already damaged. Even in human form, the wall of mana typically protected the body.
For her to be in this state meant she had been attacked by a dragon-level force.
The preservation magic had been suppressing it, but it was just a temporary measure.
“You, how did you get hurt so badly? Is it okay for a dragon to be like this?”
This isn’t even during a war where dragons fight dragons. Yet a dragon had suffered such a fatal wound and collapsed. It was a situation I couldn’t readily understand.
The Red Dragon couldn’t answer my question and her head drooped helplessly.
She had clearly mentioned betrayal earlier. It couldn’t be that she was betrayed by a human. Then it must be a dragon.
“What, what is this… Is she dead?”
Rurin crouched down and started poking the Red Dragon’s body with her finger. The dragon didn’t budge.
One thing was certain: death had already loomed over her.
Under normal circumstances, there would be no way to save her.
“Rurin, stop poking and teleport her to Ms. Elena.”
This dragon had never harmed me. She had attacked me, but that was over. She had even asked for food, so she was a guest after all.
It’s only natural to try to save a guest who collapsed in the restaurant.
“You know where Ms. Elena’s clinic is, right? You went there when I was sick, didn’t you?”
“Uh, uh, uh? How do you know that?”
Rurin was startled and even pouted. It must have been a secret.
“That elf dares!”
Moreover, she directed her resentment to the wrong place.
If the elf knew, she would probably tremble in fear and wet herself. She was already scared just by being nearby, so if an angry dragon approached, she would surely faint.
But thanks to that resentment, the teleportation sped up. Soon, the surroundings were engulfed in darkness.
A bright white light flashed. At the same time, Elena appeared before my eyes. She looked at the Red Dragon and Rurin, then turned her gaze to me.
Five seconds.
Four seconds.
Three seconds.
Two seconds.
One second.
“Kyahhh!”
As expected, she was terrified and panicked. Elena began trembling with a horrified face. Her ears twitched wildly.
“Th-this is… Two Great Beings! Ah!”
“Wait, stop! If you faint here, it won’t help. Get a grip.”
I barely supported Elena’s body from behind as she was about to faint. I prevented her from collapsing, but her eyes seemed to spin around.
“Ms. Elena!”
Calling out loudly, she barely looked at me. Her eyes were full of confusion.
“Th-thank you for supporting me. But what is this… What’s happening?”
“It’s a dragon, but a serious patient. So…”
“Stop at once!”
Just then, a very arrogant voice came from outside the clinic door. To tell us to stop while trying to save a critical patient. There was no such rude being in Greek City.
Men swarmed into the clinic. All of them had red hair.
“Stop!”
Their mouths still issued commands. Red hair. Abrupt orders. And arrogance.
All actions that could be described as arrogance. I didn’t need to check Elena’s expression to know. They were all Red Dragons.
They filled Elena’s clinic. Their presence was visible outside too. Red hair here, red hair there. Red hair outside too.
The sudden intrusion was clearly the power of teleportation.
Rurin realized it even before I did and raised her eyebrows with a growling expression. Elena, who had the racial trait of identifying dragons, also had a face that looked like she had fainted. Her expression was like her soul had left her.
Rurin, panting heavily, stuck close to me. Her whole body was full of hostility.
“You! There are so many Red guys! Let’s fight!”
“Pfft.”
I let out a chuckle at Rurin’s reaction. The man at the front of the red-haired men openly snorted. It was more of a derisive laugh than a snort.
That man looked at me with an expression ten times more arrogant than typical of dragons.
“I heard there’s a human disturbing the order, and it turns out to be you! How dare you harm our Red Dragon, you are absolutely unforgivable!”
The man pointed to the Red Dragon collapsed in the clinic. He pointed at her, still bleeding, with his fingertip, looking very triumphant.
They were saying I had defeated the Red Dragon and that they happened to discover the situation just now.
What a ridiculous situation this was. It was so absurd that I stared blankly at them for a moment.
The man at the front was inciting them.
Then, all the Red Dragons behind him glared at me as if I were an enemy. It was as if they had already decided in their hearts that I was the one who had harmed the Red Dragon.
They genuinely harbored a desire for revenge against me. Their expressions truly believed I had defeated the Red Dragon.
“I told you! The life signs from this side were disappearing!”
It was probably this man at the front’s fault. He kept inciting them relentlessly.
A dying Red Dragon. And me. And next to me, the Black Dragon Rurin.
In other words, it was a situation perfect for framing me.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I just brought a collapsed customer from my restaurant here.”
“Don’t be ridiculous! There are other dragons here as witnesses. You used teleportation to transport the fallen Red Dragon here, so you must be the culprit! Human who consumed the Heart of the Dragon Lord. You are the only human capable of such a feat!”
“What?”
A bolt out of the blue. This was undoubtedly the most absurd thing I had heard recently. Their eyes were already full of certainty.
It was like a rigged game of Go-Stop.
That was exactly their attitude.
As if I had to be the culprit.
“The truce agreement forbids dragons from attacking human cities. But there is a clear exception if our kin are attacked. It is a rightful act of defense to annihilate a human who attacked our kin, and beyond that, the human who killed our kin before our eyes must be beaten to death! Everyone, believe what you saw! And join me in avenging Sereina!”
She’s not dead yet?
For someone crying out for revenge for their kin, there was no concern for the kin who was bleeding and unconscious. No, she was already being treated as dead. It looked like the guy at the front was orchestrating and inciting everything.
Because of the justification or whatever that he himself was proclaiming?
