So, they want to attack me.

Red Dragons?

Of course, I have fought Red Dragons on the side of the Blacks, but we made a truce on the condition that we wouldn’t bring up past events. So it is impossible for these guys to break the elders’ agreement.

That can’t be the reason for this.

There must be another reason.

It’s frustrating not knowing the reason.

They are approaching one by one. Their intention to attack is clear.

I can’t fight in the city like this. Greek City is my peaceful retreat.

They wouldn’t hesitate to undo their polymorph if a fight breaks out. They can’t attack the city preemptively. But with the excuse of revenge they are shouting about, it becomes permissible.

“Rurin, let’s teleport. A secluded place would be good. Hmm, yes. Let’s go to the Miliorrek Mountains we visited last time. We can rampage there without harming nearby cities.”

They will probably follow us. They can teleport by sensing the presence of dragons.

As long as their target is me and not Greek City.

“What is that?”

“If we fight here, the lair will be destroyed? It’s a lair I barely managed to build?”

“I don’t want that. No way. Fine! Let’s move. I’ll kill them all!”

With a very angry face, Rurin nodded and grabbed me.

It’s a very sensitive issue for her, as she remembers her mother’s lair being destroyed during the Dragon War.

“Wait, Rurin!”

But I paused briefly and grabbed Elena’s arm and shouted. I had forgotten something important.

“These guys will soon be gone. When that happens, take care of the fallen Red Dragon. Cast a Great Heal! At least keep her alive!”

Given the wounds, even Elena can’t save her.

Those guys know that too, which is why they are treating her as good as dead.

They are sure that even a hundred elves using healing magic couldn’t save her. But Elena is an advanced healer among the elves, so she might be able to sustain her life for a while, even if she can’t save her.

Even if I suggest saving the Red Dragon first, they won’t listen. There’s no way to save her anyway. They wouldn’t listen to me. They are full of the desire to kill, and the Red Dragon at the front is orchestrating everything.

Dealing with them comes first.

I released Elena’s arm, who was flustered. Then I leaned into Rurin.

“Let’s go, Rurin.”

“Got it!”

Darkness soon enveloped us.

And the place we arrived at. We were surrounded by a forest. Rurin and I arrived first in this quiet place.

“We arrived! But you, what about those arrogant guys…?”

As Rurin was talking to me, just as I thought, the group of Red Dragons appeared right after us. The teleported dragons each undid their polymorph and reverted to their dragon forms, roaring and soaring into the sky.

More than fifteen dragons filled the sky.

“Did everyone see that? His very act of running away is evidence that he tried to kill Sereina! No, that he did kill her! Fellow kin, let’s avenge her!”

The guy at the front who has been accusing me of being the culprit from the start.

Even after returning to dragon form in the sky, he continued to spout such nonsense. His act of pretending to talk about revenge was a farce. He was quite the actor. If it were modern times, I’d recommend him for an acting career.

I still couldn’t figure out what he hoped to gain by killing me.

Considering they didn’t care about Rurin, their target was solely me. Not Rurin.

Everything pointed to me.

They finally initiated their attack under the guise of revenge. When they opened their mouths wide, red breath poured out.

-Kwaaang!

A powerful breath.

Such an attack is a catastrophe for humans. Especially the breath used in dragon form is worlds apart from the breath Rurin sometimes uses in human form. No human could block this. Except me.

“You, you, you! I hate those guys! They attacked you, I should chew them up a hundred times!”

Rurin generated a protective shield and burned with hostility. The shield deflected their breath.

Rurin was not the same as before. Due to the influence of the dragon orb, she had also become stronger.

Incomparably so.

So even in human form, she was blocking the breath used in dragon form. A power unimaginable before obtaining the dragon orb.

Kwaaang!

One hit. Two hits. Three hits.

But no matter how powerful her mana had become, Rurin’s original combat power couldn’t handle more than two dragons.

The shield that had blocked multiple breaths began to crack, and Rurin broke out in a cold sweat trying to hold on. It was pitiful to see.

Wasn’t she doing this to protect me? Rurin might get hurt this way. I couldn’t allow that. I began using 9th-class magic against them.

Flame Blazes engulfed the breath and exploded in mid-air. The randomly used Flame Blazes met with the breath and exploded all around.

It created a scene like a grand display of fireworks, booming and shaking the ground.

I unleashed the powerful dark sword called General’s Blade to attack the dragons.

Kuaaang!

One dragon’s wing was sliced off.

“What are you doing! Don’t be scared! It’s just one human! Kill that human first no matter what!”

Fifteen dragons. It’s not an unmanageable number if I go all out. The old me could handle ten at once. More than that would be tough. But with my increased mana, this number was manageable.

Veint was getting frustrated.

The method that Black Dragon Nies had told him was brilliant. He acknowledged that. So, the attempt to kill a Red Dragon near Greek City and frame El for it was going smoothly.

He found out that the dragon’s name was Sereina. A dragon in her mid-thousands. He had successfully recruited the Red Dragon Garud, who was dating her. Nilt’s threats had worked well on Garud, who declared he would ambush Sereina.

But a problem arose.

Garud failed to kill Sereina in one blow. Sereina, who had been ambushed, fled. The only fortunate thing was that Sereina had suffered a fatal injury.

The breath that hit her back while she was off guard had taken away her hope for survival. Knowing that attacking Garud with her wounded body would only hasten her death, Sereina fled.

Veint concluded that the wound on her back wouldn’t allow her to last a day, and that was an undeniable fact.

But her fleeing was a hassle. They had to chase her.

Originally, the plan was to kill her, throw her in front of El, incite their kin by saying they saw Sereina being ambushed and should go rescue her, and then show her dead body in front of El as evidence to start the attack. But the plan went awry.

But another stroke of luck came into play. For some reason, Sereina hid in the target city, Greek City.

That made things simple. They would spread the word that they saw Sereina being ambushed, rush over, and pin the blame on El.

It was perfect.

Veint praised himself for the perfect plan. He even deliberately gathered kin from other factions, not just his own, to invade Greek City. He successfully framed the human.

The ones who knew about this plan were Black Dragon Nies, his confidant, and Veint’s confidants, totaling six.

Including Sereina’s lover, there were seven in total.

And the human ran away in front of their kin. The one who runs is the culprit. That’s a story that holds even in this era.

Everything was going according to plan, so Veint rejoiced and led his kin to pursue El.

Sereina, bleeding and collapsed.

And the human in front of her.

And the Black Dragon.

And fleeing.

Based on these few facts, the Red Dragons that followed Veint were deceived and began attacking El.

Everything had gone smoothly up to this point. But what annoyed him was that they still hadn’t killed El.

The human who kept nullifying their full-power breaths with massive spells one after another was frustrating, even if you consider the Black Dragon, Rurin.

Such unnecessarily powerful mana.

Magic capable of facing fifteen dragons simultaneously.

He was stronger than what Nies had told him. That information had been wrong.

But he had to kill him somehow. His future depended on it.

His ambition was to control the Red Dragons and then dominate all dragons.

To do that, he needed to perfectly conclude his deal with Nies. Once this deal was over, he would undoubtedly be the next elder.

“Focus all your breaths at once! What are you doing!”

But in that situation, Rurin didn’t stay idle.

She used her breath against the Red Dragons charging at El. Rurin’s strengthened breath pushed two Red Dragons back. The wings of a Red Dragon got slightly burnt.

“Kuaaah!”

The Red Dragon with burnt wings roared in great anger.

Veint wasn’t the only one getting frustrated.

El, in a situation as bewildering as a bolt out of the blue, was now full of frustration.

He could handle fifteen, but it was a very annoying situation.

He could maintain the situation at this level due to the dragon orb.

He feared that his stamina would run out if things continued like this.

That must not happen.

If it’s fifteen, there’s still a way.

Rather, he should use a massive spell to end this situation.

But if he killed all the Red Dragons with a large spell while framed, it would create another troublesome situation. The false accusation would become real.

So El endured, refraining from causing total destruction.

It didn’t matter to him, but if that infamy extended to Rurin, it would be problematic.

Rurin could become the target of all the other dragons. He couldn’t let Rurin bear such infamy. He absolutely couldn’t let her trod down the same path as her mother.

So killing them all on impulse would be the worst choice. It’s a decision to be made only when life is truly at a tipping point.

At least for now, it was a situation where he had to seek the wisest possible solution.

Therefore, he launched attacks equal to theirs without killing the Red Dragons.

If that showy Red Dragon was the ringleader, the other dragons were just deceived into attacking.

In the end, all he could do was endure.

Of course, there was a way to use while enduring. In fact, it lay in the very fact that fifteen dragons were using massive mana and he was also using massive mana.

With that thought, El simultaneously used Flame Blaze and Plasma Tempest. The spheres created by the superheated flames colored the sky and struck the fifteen dragons at once.

The power of Plasma Tempest started to set the dragons’ wings on fire.

They writhed in pain.

And at that moment.

Finally, the situation took a turn. It was the moment El had been waiting for.

An abnormal phenomenon occurred around El. A luminous phenomenon.

Ice-type mana extended from the sky, extinguishing the flames burning the dragons’ wings. The dragons, who had been screaming and heading for the ground, all escaped the Plasma Tempest and flew up again.

Additional dragons had arrived for support.

Those dragons used ice magic to extinguish the flames on their wings.

And on the opposite side of the sky. A luminous phenomenon appeared behind El.

Dragons appeared from that side as well.
