With our new companion, the maid robot Cherge, our journey resumed.
Our destination was the Elf Nation, Anemosgive.
It was the homeland of the slave girl Zenith-chan. To see what had become of the country and to search for her scattered family.
Chi-chan the earth dragon pulled the carriage.
Cherge sat on the driver’s seat holding Chi-chan’s reins.
Since Cherge was a golem, she didn’t need cooling potions and could work without sleep.
Of course Chi-chan was a living creature pulling the wagon, so she still needed rest though.
Still, having another driver was helpful. It reduced the burden on the slave girls.
“Master.”
“…?”
“Master. Lady Seyi Falt.”
“O-oh… you mean me? What’s with suddenly calling me Master, Cherge?”
After all, she was created by my master Nicholas Flamel.
“This Mark II body was created by Lady Seyi Falt. Therefore the current master is Lady Seyi. Hence I addressed you as Master. That is all.”
“Oh, I see. Do as you like. So what is it?”
“Enemy.”
The carriage stopped. Peeking outside the cover, a pack of black dogs was approaching.
Zenith-chan popped her head out.
“…Black Hounds. A-rank monsters. They move in packs and their fangs contain poison.”
“As expected of Zenith-chan, knowledgeable as ever. Now then…”
Toka-chan stepped down from the wagon.
“My turn! Cherge-dono, please protect everyone!”
“Request denied. That is all.”
“What!? Why!?”
“Command authority over me is granted only to Master. That is all.”
Toka-chan nearly cried. Naturally — she asked a companion to cover her and got rejected.
Stubborn robot maid.
“Toka-chan, defeat the Black Hounds. Cherge, intercept any dogs that approach and protect us.”
“YES, my lord.”
Toka-chan drew her weapon and took stance.
She leveled her spear and charged at high speed.
“[Explosive Shatter Spear]!”
The spear wrapped in flames struck a Black Hound.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!
The Black Hound was blown to pieces.
“Amazing! One hit! Toka-chan is amazing!”
“…Is that a magic tool, Lady Seyi?”
I explained to Zenith-chan.
“Not exactly. It won’t work without force, and Toka-chan barely has magic power.”
“…So it isn’t a magic tool.”
“Right. The spear surface is coated with special gunpowder I made. When thrust at sufficient speed, friction heat triggers an explosion.”
Every time Toka-chan swung her spear, explosions erupted.
“…Amazing. Creating a new kind of magic tool that doesn’t need magic. As expected of Lady Seyi.”
With Toka-chan’s power, the Black Hounds quickly dwindled.
She read attacks, dodged, and pierced vital points.
A beautiful spear technique. Thanks to training with Cherge, her movements had no wasted motion.
“…Facing an A-rank pack alone. Truly the result of Lady Seyi’s training.”
“No no. She already had the potential. I only gave advice. The amazing one is Toka-chan.”
Still, the Black Hounds wouldn’t retreat.
“Daphne-chan, can you tell which one is the boss?”
“Yes!”
Daphne-chan raised her rabbit ears.
They twitched as she scanned the surroundings.
“Bau! Gya! Grr! Gya!”
She sharply pointed at one Black Hound.
“That one! It was giving orders!”
On her ears were earrings I developed.
A magic tool that lets her distinguish sounds efficiently.
Daphne-chan had excellent hearing. Too good — she heard even tiny cloth friction noises.
So her body subconsciously suppressed volume to protect itself.
Meaning she couldn’t use her full hearing ability.
That’s where my earrings came in.
They activated with magic power.
When off, they cut all background noise to human level.
When on, she could accurately pick desired sounds from noise.
“These earrings are amazing! Life is so much easier! Big sis is awesome!”
Again, the amazing one was Daphne-chan.
The tool didn’t amplify hearing — it only highlighted her natural ability.
Just a support tool.
“Okay Zenith-chan, finish it.”
“…Yes. [Wind Edge]!”
Zenith-chan extended both hands and activated magic.
Without chanting, blades of wind flew at high speed and shredded the leader Black Hound.
The pack retreated.
“Good work. Nice silent casting.”
That technique I taught her.
Using magic without chanting.
My master Nicholas Flamel, though an alchemist, was also a top-class mage.
For some reason he drilled that skill into me, an alchemist.
“…Amazing. I’ve never heard of using magic without chanting.”
“Oh really?”
“…Yes. Chanting is standard in this world.”
Hmm. Without chanting magic was instant, so it’s practical in battle. Why doesn’t everyone use it? Oh well.
“Oh! We’ve gotten stronger!”
“Yes! Thanks to big sis!”
“…Thanks to Lady Seyi, we grew stronger. Thank you.”
The slave girls thanked me.
“No, you always had the ability. I just gave a push.”
Then it happened.
The sandy ground swelled and a new enemy appeared.
“Wow, a huge worm.”
“…S-Sandworm!? An SS-rank monster — why here!?”
Zenith-chan was shocked.
It probably lived here. The dogs likely fled from it.
“Even I… against this monster…”
“…M-me too… no confidence…”
Oh dear, both were out.
“Then my turn. Cherge. Number 11.”
Cherge wore her maid outfit.
She reached into the apron pocket and pulled out a potion.
Her storage ability connected to a subspace.
“…Advanced Numbers Potion. Number 11. [Explosion Potion]. That is all.”
“Alright, throw it.”
Cherge lifted her leg high.
Her skirt flipped up revealing drawers.
Well she’s a robot, so fine.
With inhuman strength she threw the bottle.
It flew straight into the Sandworm’s massive open mouth.
Then—
KABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
An internal explosion obliterated it completely.
Explosion Potion — reacts with oxygen to produce a devastating blast.
“Yep, looks good.”
Test of the advanced potion successful.
“Hey, what’s wrong everyone?”
The slave girls stared blankly.
Then applauded.
“As expected of you, my lord!”
“So amazing! Boom!”
“…Even if we grow stronger, we can’t compare. As expected of Lady Seyi’s potions.”
They praised me.
“No, you drove away the enemies. Be proud.”
“Master. After taking all the spotlight, that sounds sarcastic. That is all.”
Eh, seriously?
