After blasting the Sandworm to bits, we headed straight south.

The robot maid Cherge also had a compass function installed.

Since she was a direct trace of the golem my master made, it wasn’t really me who added it — it was something my master had attached.

Why a maid meant to guard a tower needed a compass function (a pointless feature)… I had no idea.

Well, he was a weirdo. He probably had a reason normal people couldn’t understand. Better not think too hard.

Anyway.

“Village detected. Shall we stop? That is all.”

“Oh, a village. Yeah. Let’s ask to stay the night.”

The sun was already slanting down, and Chi-chan looked tired too.

In my previous job, I got workplace harassment from a senior lady.

So I would absolutely never force unreasonable labor on workers!

Even if it was a dragon carriage!

“Gwa-gwa, gaa!”

“She says, ‘Boss is seriously so nice~! A god!’”

Daphne-chan of the rabbit tribe, who could understand animals, interpreted Chi-chan’s words.

Well, it’s not like I’m a god. I just don’t want to do to others what I hated having done to me (overwork).

Before long, we arrived at the village. But…

“Hmm, this is terrible… it’s in ruins.”

“…Perhaps it suffered a monster attack?”

The village was a complete mess, like a storm had torn through.

Buildings were broken, roads were ripped up, and injured villagers were laid out all over.

This wasn’t a situation where I could say, “Let us stay the night.” What now, camping out? No way — I wanted to sleep under a roof.

If that’s the case…

“Zenith-chan. Can you take Toka-chan and find the village chief? Daphne-chan, Cherge — you two help me.”

“““Yes!”””

The slave girls giggled.

Huh, what?

“As expected, my lord is compassionate!”

“We’ll help the injured! Big sis is kind!”

“…Lady Seyi. Leave the questioning to us. Please focus on treatment.”

Zenith-chan and the others withdrew for now.

Me, Daphne-chan, and Cherge approached a villager nearby.

“Um, good evening~”

“W-who are you…?”

That villager had lost his right hand.

Maybe it had been torn off by some beast.

“I’m a traveler. Would you allow me to treat you?”

“T-treat…? A-are you people from the Tendo Church?”

There it was again. Tendo.

I’d been holed up in the workshop lately so I hadn’t heard it, but even a backwater like this knew the name Tendo.

Well, that didn’t matter right now.

“Tendo has nothing to do with it. I’m just a stranger. Cherge.”

She took a potion bottle from her apron and handed it to me.

When I opened the cap and tried to pour it, the villager resisted.

“W-what are you doing!? Stop! Something that suspicious—gah!”

The villager’s body stiffened for an instant, then went limp and collapsed.

Between Cherge’s thumb and index finger, electricity crackled.

She shocked him unconscious…

“Master. Treatment. That is all.”

“Well, fine. This makes it easier.”

I pulled the stopper and poured the potion over the injured arm.

The severed right arm regenerated in moments, back to normal. While I was at it, everything else wrong healed too.

“Alright, alright — wake up.”

“U-ugh… whoa! M-my arm’s healed!? D-did you do this?”

“Yes. How do you feel?”

“A-ah… thanks to you. I-it’s incredible… nothing hurts anywhere…!”

Then villagers started gathering in a crowd.

“Big sis! I brought injured people who can move!”

“Oh, Daphne-chan, nice~. Okay, line up, line up! I’ll heal you one by one!”

The villagers looked half doubtful.

But when the villager I’d helped told them his arm had regrown, everyone believed.

Me, Cherge, and Daphne-chan split up and splashed potions onto the injured.

Unlike healing magic, potions were convenient — you just opened the bottle and poured, and the person healed.

I handed a bottle to a healed villager and splashed another injured person.

Doing it that way, the injured count hit zero in no time.

“H-how can this be…?”

“O-oh, are you the village chief?”

Zenith-chan and Toka-chan came back with a bald old man.

Probably the chief. Looks like Zenith-chan got the message through smoothly. As expected.

“The villagers were nearly wiped out… yet there are no injured! Th-this is a miracle…”

“No, no — this isn’t a miracle or anything.”

I just poured potions, that’s all.

Zenith-chan approached and told me.

“…It seems monsters attacked a few hours ago. Many wounded, and there are quite a number of dead…”

Zenith-chan reported what she’d learned from the chief.

Hmm, there were dead too. With the village trashed like this, of course there would be.

“Alright, let’s go. Chief, where are the bodies? You haven’t buried them yet, right?”

They’d been overwhelmed just treating the wounded, so burials or cremations probably hadn’t happened yet.

“W-what are you planning…?”

“Well, if it’s only been a few hours, this should work. Cherge. No.1.”

From the maid’s pocket, she produced a potion bottle filled with red liquid.

So it was time for an advanced Numbers potion.

The chief led me to the bodies…

“Waaaaaaah! Mom! Daaad!”

A little girl was crying her heart out.

Beside her lay a man and a woman’s bodies, already motionless.

Her parents, probably. I didn’t know what happened, but… it was too painful to look at.

The slave girls felt the same — especially Daphne-chan.

Daphne-chan ran over and hugged the little girl.

“Don’t cry. Big sis will fix them!”

“…Fix them? Really?”

“Yeah! So don’t cry, okay?”

Hearing that from a complete stranger would only confuse anyone.

Even the adult chief looked bewildered, staring at me with suspicion — how could you “treat” corpses?

But the little girl was different.

When Daphne-chan said it, she nodded quietly.

Maybe they were close in age, and the gentle light in Daphne-chan’s heart reached her.

Daphne-chan took the girl’s hand and moved her away from her parents’ bodies.

I crouched down and sprinkled No.1, the Resurrection Potion, over the couple.

In that instant… a fierce light enveloped the area.

“W-what on earth is thiiiiiis!?”

The chief was stunned. The slave girls were shocked too.

Then, as the light faded… how mysterious.

Their injuries were completely restored, and color returned to the dead parents’ faces.

“Th-this is…”

“A-are we… alive…?”

“Mooom! Daaad!”

The little girl clung to them, bawling tears.

The two looked like they couldn’t process what was happening. Naturally — dying suddenly does that.

“I-I can’t believe it… th-this is a divine miracle…”

The chief’s voice trembled as he dropped to his knees before me.

“G-goddess!”

The chief bowed deeply. The little girl copied him, pressing her head to the ground too.

H-hey, hey… that’s too dramatic.

“You must be the goddess who descended from the heavens to save us!”

“Thaaank you, big si— I mean, goddeeeess!”

Ugh, this was getting weird.

But there was one thing I had to correct.

“Listen, I’m not a goddess.”

“Huh? Th-then…?”

“I’m just an alchemist.”

Hearing that, the chief and the little girl both stared wide-eyed, mouths hanging open.

While nobody could say anything, Cherge muttered quietly.

“After resurrecting the dead, denying that you are divine seems a bit unreasonable. That is all.”
