To The Guild Headquarters

Once back at the mansion, I take my lunch. Living a life where everything is done for me is starting to make me feel like I’m going to turn into a useless person.
“What are your plans for the afternoon?” Aria asked, standing behind me.
“I’m thinking of heading to the Guild Headquarters.”
“Understood, sir.”
It was all well and good that I had been certified as an S-rank adventurer, but I hadn’t properly introduced myself to the Guild Master here yet. We had only briefly crossed paths during the certification ceremony.
“I’d appreciate it if you could guide me.”
“Certainly. I shall show you the way.”
This time, Aria offered to be my guide. I still have no idea where anything is in the Royal Capital, so while I know I need to get used to it gradually, I’m still in the phase of taking everything in.
“I am ready whenever you are, so please let me know when you are prepared, Master Vim.”
“Got it. Thanks.”
Vim left the living room, went back to his room to grab his robe, and then headed out of the mansion with Aria.
“Then, let us depart.”
“Yeah.”
Aria set off at a brisk pace once they were outside.
“This is our nation’s Guild Headquarters.”
By my estimation, it took a little over ten minutes to reach the headquarters. Once again, I was struck by the excellent location of the mansion. For an adventurer, being this close to the Guild Headquarters was something to be grateful for.
“You can head back now, Aria. I’ve memorized the route.”
“But, if something were to happen to you, Master Vim…”
“I’ll be fine. I’m strong, you know,” Vim said with a smile.
“I understand. Then, please take care.”
“Yeah, thanks for the guidance.”
Walking around with a girl in a maid uniform would make me stand out way too much inside the Guild—though I suppose I already stand out enough that it might be too late for that.
Vim pushed open the doors to the Guild Headquarters. A cutthroat atmosphere hung in the air inside. Apparently, that’s the same no matter which Guild you go to.
“I’d like to greet the Guild Master,” Vim said to the woman at the general reception desk.
“Pardon me, but who are you?”
“Vim Abel.”
Vim reached into his robe and presented his guild card, which displayed his S-rank status.
“M-my apologies! I will go check with the Guild Master immediately.”
The receptionist placed an “Away from Desk” sign down and hurried toward the back. While she was gone, I could feel everyone’s eyes on me. Thankfully, there weren’t any “tough guys” brave enough to actually start trouble.
“Thank you for waiting. The Guild Master will see you now,” the receptionist said upon her return.
“I see. Thank you.”
“Please, follow me.”
Led by the receptionist, Vim began to climb the stairs of the Guild.
