The Guild Master’s office was located at the end of the hallway after climbing the stairs.

“I have brought Master Vim,” the receptionist said, knocking on the door.

“Come in,” a gravelly voice called out from inside.

“Please, enter,” the receptionist said as she opened the office door.

“Thank you,” Vim said as he stepped into the room. “I apologize for dropping in so suddenly.”

“Not at all, don’t worry about it. Please, have a seat.”

Vim was motioned toward a sofa by the Guild Master.

“Good work. You may go now.”

“Excuse me, sir.”

The receptionist closed the door and left the office.

“Shall we start with introductions? I am Helmut, and I am in charge of the Guild Headquarters here in the Royal Capital.”

Helmut appeared to be in his late forties. He had a sturdy, well-built physique. For a Guild Master, being in one’s forties was considered relatively young. To be appointed as the Guild Master of the Royal Capital at that age meant he had to be exceptionally talented.

“My name is Vim Abel. I recently received S-rank adventurer qualifications from His Majesty the King. I’ve come today to offer my formal greetings.”

“Yes, I was present at the certification ceremony, so I am well aware. I heard you rescued Her Royal Highness the Princess.”

“You’re quick to get information.”

If Vim recalled correctly, the fact that the Princess had been attacked was supposed to be kept from the public.

“I am the head of this nation’s Guild Headquarters, after all. I have my information networks.”

“I see. My apologies for the assumption.”

A Guild that manages adventurers would naturally have various connections.

“Think nothing of it. I thought about offering you a quest right away, but unfortunately, no S-rank requests have come in lately,” the Guild Master said, flipping through the request logs.

Well, it would be a disaster if S-rank designated requests came in that easily.

“That makes sense. For the time being, I’ll just take on some suitable requests to make ends meet.”

“I’m sorry, but that is the only way for now. If any interesting cases come up, I’ll contact you from this end.”

“Thank you. I appreciate it.”

“Likewise. Let’s get along well.”

Vim and Helmut shook hands.

“Well, I’ll take my leave for today. Thank you for your time despite your busy schedule.”

With that, Vim stood up from the sofa.

“It’s no trouble at all. Technically, I should have been the one to visit you to pay my respects.”

“Not at all. Well, if anything comes up, let me know.”

“Yes, I look forward to working with you then.”

Vim left the Guild Master’s office. He stepped out of the Guild building and headed toward his mansion. He generally had a knack for remembering any path he had traveled once. Without getting lost, Vim managed to arrive back at his residence.
