Trapped in the labyrinth, I realized something.
I seriously have nothing to do.
“Maybe I’ll try conquering this place.”
Vim stood up and walked through the third floor. Since there were no magical beasts here, he could move around without worry. After continuing his exploration for a while, he discovered the stairs leading to the next floor. He descended them.
“Oh, the mana concentration has increased.”
Upon entering the fourth floor, the mana concentration spiked instantly. This likely meant the level of the magical beasts had increased as well.
“I’d like to fight something with a bit of a bite.”
With that thought in mind, Vim proceeded through the fourth floor.
“Ho, Griffins, is it?”
Two Griffins appeared directly in front of Vim. Without hesitation, the Griffins lunged toward him.
“Stay still.”
Vim deployed ice magic. The ice froze the Griffins from their feet up to their chests. Rendered immobile, the Griffins let out a thunderous roar.
“Shut up.”
Without missing a beat, Vim unleashed blades of wind at their necks. In the next instant, the Griffins’ heads were severed from their torsos. He sliced through the neck of the other one in the same manner. Two corpses of the deceased Griffins lay finished.
“That was underwhelming.”
Leaping over the remains of the Griffins, Vim moved on to reach the next floor. After a short while, he found the stairs to the fifth floor and descended.
“This is quite something…”
As expected of a high-grade labyrinth. The fifth floor, which appeared to have seen no visitors, was in a state of ruin. The mana concentration was gradually becoming even higher.
“Puppies again?”
This time, Gray Wolves appeared. However, their bodies were incomparably larger than the previous wolves, and they possessed magnificent fangs.
“Shall we clean this up quickly?”
There were probably about ten of them in total. Wolves generally acted in packs.
“Burn.”
Vim deployed fire magic. The spell acted like a flamethrower, incinerating the wolves. The fire continued for about three minutes. When he stopped the flames, the wolves were gone, reduced to mere cinders.
“Labyrinth conquering is actually pretty fun.”
Normally, conquering a labyrinth is a life-threatening endeavor. The fact that Vim could do it while enjoying himself proved that he was indeed “out of specification.” To begin with, the fact that he could deploy high-level magic without a single incantation was absurd. He didn’t seem to realize it himself, though.
“Well then, shall we move to the next floor?”
Starting to enjoy himself, Vim headed for the next level. From there, he continued toward the deepest depths of the labyrinth, incinerating every magical beast that appeared along the way. Before he knew it, he had surpassed the tenth floor, and the deepest part was finally drawing near.
Up to this point, Vim hadn’t sustained a single scratch.
“The next floor, then.”
Vim had discovered the stairs leading to the eleventh floor.
