“Shit… Was it you? The one who broke my magic?”
He was a man who appeared to be in his early twenties. A woman was unconscious in his arms, and seeing as her condition clearly wasn’t normal, it felt as though he had acted impulsively to kidnap or detain her.
“Why don’t you let that woman go?”
“Who the hell are you?”
“I’m nobody special, but I received a request, you see.”
“Fuck, did this bitch’s kept man put in the request?”
“If the kept man is a government official, then maybe?”
The emotions boiling with rage were transmitted directly into the mana spread throughout the surroundings.
Then, those who had been wandering around like zombies gathered their gazes toward this direction; rage dwelled in their blurry eyes, and they soon rushed forward like actual zombies as if showing signs of madness.
However, I had already emitted mana in advance while coming this far.
In order to break Blood Magic, my power had to be greater than the opponent’s.
Black magic was a lineage where a structure similar to the law of the jungle was severe.
‘As long as the opponent is a black mage, it means they have no choice but to submit.’
Since the Blood Magic wasn’t deeply engraved, I used my mana to cover and suppress the parts that stimulated those who were about to have a seizure in excitement, and the people soon collapsed and began to regain their vacant rationality.
The problem was their appearance.
It wouldn’t take long for both the men and women, who appeared to have ejaculated, to realize their current state.
So, I simply snapped my fingers.
Snap! Along with the sound, I caused an additional ‘Shock’ to the part where the Blood Magic was applying stimulation, and as I suppressed them by manifesting enough power to make everyone faint, the flustered Curse User stood with his mouth agape, pointing a finger at me.
Then, as I moved my steps to close the distance, he gathered mana in his hand and spoke.
“D-don’t come any closer, or I’ll kill this bitch!”
“Wasn’t she someone precious to you?”
“Pre-precious, my ass! F-fuck, it was a breakup notice! Just because I’m a black mage, she gave me a breakup notice!!”
‘Tsk, it’s a common story. Was he deceiving her by pretending not to be a mage all this time?’
I could roughly tell by his attire.
He was wearing a light-toned robe. The arm knots embroidered with gold thread signified a 4th Circle mage.
It was a sort of certification that could only be embroidered once one had mastered all 4th Circle magic at a young age.
In my case, I had a robe embroidered with seven dark-red knots.
Anyway, I looked at him and spoke.
“If you had made everything known from the start, things might have been a bit different.”
“No, you don’t know!!”
“Right, I don’t know. But I know one thing for certain.”
“…?”
He had an expression asking what it was.
So, in celebration of finishing the calculation of the captured Blood Magic, I snapped my fingers, and just as he began to look rapidly flustered after sensing something strange, I spoke to him.
“Blood Magic isn’t used like that.”
The inverse-calculated Blood Magic was rapidly reflected back to the caster, undergoing a transformation.
The basic framework of the Blood Magic the man before my eyes used lay in ‘Pleasure’ and ‘Amplification’. So, I changed the amplification to ‘Loathing’ here, and as it began to act while returning to the caster, he suddenly collapsed with a bizarre expression and began to mutter something.
‘I said I would stimulate it to the point that his mind wouldn’t break, but was it already breaking to an unmanageable level?’
The breakup notice probably wasn’t simply because the man before my eyes was a black mage.
Before the unconscious people could wake up, I sent a signal that I had suppressed the situation, wishing to wrap things up, and it was just then that Go Yu-jin was about to enter the interior of Seoul Station leading the people.
“I… I really loved you, Hye-jin. I loved you so much, and because I loved you, I was proud of this power I awakened. But you said I couldn’t be happy with this power. But… Fuck, why is that bastard okay?”
I didn’t know what the circumstances were, but had the woman turned her eyes to another man?
Whatever the situation, it wasn’t a part for me to care about. It was just as I was watching the man muttering with his mind contaminated by the Blood Magic.
“Ke, kekeke, Fu… Fuuuuuuck… Fine, if it’s going to be like this, everyone might as well just die… You too, Hye-jin, and that bastard, and this world. Everyone! Everything! Kekekeke, yeah, like that…!”
The man’s entire body suddenly turned dark red.
‘A rampage?’
It was a rampage in a different sense. Perhaps if the events until now were things he did by controlling his power, now it was a rampage in a state where it literally became uncontrollable.
In such cases, it was said that one would exert a capacity greater than the power they possessed, but the problem was that it could emerge as a serious issue because it was not controlled.
Furthermore, after observing the range in which the power was manifesting, I eventually had no choice but to emit mana in earnest.
“Are you going to interfere with me again?”
He was the guy who grabbed and lifted the neck of the captive woman.
Seeing his body twitch and swell, it seemed that physical transformation was occurring along with a frenzy.
Moreover, I formed the bloodthirst rapidly spreading to the surroundings into a dome shape, deploying a barrier to block the power heading from the inside to the outside, and the guy who felt this transformed into a muscular monster literally called a ‘Destroyer’ and glared at me with bloodshot eyes.
“I’ll… I’ll k-kill everyone…”
The guy was getting excited while drooling, and then, as if he even forgot who the woman he was holding in his hand was, he lifted her up just like that and was about to bite her head off.
“That woman is someone you consider precious. Do you intend to kill her just like that?”
Just as a light question was thrown to buy time, the guy flinched and stopped the action of trying to chew, then soon confirmed the woman’s identity.
“Hye… Hye… jin…”
The guy tilted his head as if recalling the name and hesitated; I had no intention of missing that moment.
I activated the pattern in the spread mana in an instant, and as countless symbols appeared in the air, a snare that bound the guy’s body was created. Then, I also threw my body in accordance with the timing.
‘I have no interest in using my physical body, but it would be troublesome if the hostage died after all.’
After utilizing Haste, I created a spatial fissure and leaped a short distance.
After moving beneath the guy’s forearm in an instant, I unraveled the mana I held in my hand into threads, then clumped them firmly with my will and swung them immediately.
Squelch!
I reached my hand toward the falling woman along with the clean sound of cutting, and simultaneously snapped my fingers to create a spatial fissure beneath the falling woman, moving her quite a distance away just as I had moved myself.
However, there was a price to pay.
“How dare you!!”
The enraged guy’s kick flew in.
The driving force that moved the guy seemed to be the rage from having his plaything taken away rather than the pain of his wrist being cut.
The snare, which I expected would hold him for at least a short time, broke futilely, and my flank was exposed to the guy’s shin that swung through.
‘It might hurt… that is, if it hits.’
I had no choice but to pull out one of the magic spells I had Memorized.
‘Hard Shield.’
At the same time as I thought that, one of the spells I had stored by creating a ring in my heart quickly unraveled and blocked the incoming attack.
Cr-crack!! The defensive shield formed to protect me had cobweb-like cracks spread across it from a single attack, but it blocked the shock from being transmitted to me, and since other parts besides the leg were still bound by the snare, I spoke to the guy while widening the distance before a follow-up attack could fly in.
“If you maintain the Blood Magic any longer, your brain will melt. At that time, you will truly become the transformed Destroyer.”
It was a warning. A solemn warning asking if he would become a monster that had lost its reason, but the opponent ignored my warning and spent all his strength to rush toward me at that very moment.
A huge shadow dropped down suddenly and then pressed the Destroyer down from above.
Boom!! The sound and the roar occurring as the Destroyer struggled echoed throughout Seoul Station, but since the being pinning him down was none other than the golem controlled by Go Yu-jin, the resistance didn’t mean much.
“Couldn’t you have killed him in a single breath?”
At the voice transmitted from the golem just in time, I also spoke calmly.
“If we can persuade him before he breaks, wouldn’t it be a matter where he can be punished as a person and be reformed?”
“There is no way to bring back a human who has rampaged.”
That wasn’t necessarily true. If one utilized an overwhelming power compared to the rampaging target, one could crush and press down the power.
It meant one could suppress them without necessarily killing them.
However, it was a very difficult task to the point it was said to be impossible.
“What do you intend to do?”
Go Yu-jin was the one who curled her fist while looking down at the mage who was letting out a freakish scream as if his reason were gradually flying away.
She looked ready to crush his head in an instant. It was at the very moment she was about to drop it toward the ground.
“A-are you going to kill him?”
The voice of the woman named Hye-jin was heard as if she had regained consciousness, and I asked while looking back at the woman as Go Yu-jin hesitated.
“He tried to kill you, and he will soon lose all his reason. He will become no different from a monster.”
“Seung-ju is… h-he’s not a bad person.”
What kind of relationship could it be?
Was it a relationship entangled with complex circumstances as the mage had said?
If not, had his reason flown away due to some trigger, causing him to have extreme thoughts?
Upon awakening, an Awakener has one mental problem occur.
Because of that, I tried to understand, but there was no part that felt like an answer in particular.
It might be because I didn’t know the circumstances, but it was also because there was no reason to understand.
“There’s no time to listen to your story. Moreover, don’t you know that an Awakener who has caused damage to civilians, including a rampage, can be summarily executed on the spot?”
“It’s! All because of me!! Because I! ch-cheated!!”
They were lovers, and perhaps there was a sense of bitterness for no reason in the fact that the person she cheated with was highly likely to be an Awakener belonging to the so-called ‘Light’.
‘The situation of being abandoned because one is a black mage isn’t very pleasant.’
However, as if she could no longer wait for the guy who had completely lost his reason and was rampaging, Go Yu-jin drove her fist down.
Boom!! Along with the sound, the head was crushed, and white brain matter and red blood sprayed in all directions, tainting the area.
The woman was pouring tears while sitting down with her mouth covered, looking at her former lover who had died foolishly, but it was just a bitter taste in a situation that was ambiguous to evaluate right and wrong in many ways.
Afterward, the scene of the incident was organized, and it didn’t take very long to settle the situation before those who were exposed to Blood Magic and colored with pleasure and rage woke up.
It was partly because the government poured in massive manpower, but it was also thanks to the ‘Chantra’ who swarmed in late and acted as if they were the ones who led the scene, organizing it well.
They were people sensitive to reputation work. In that sense, they were good to use in many ways, but we slipped out and looked for the government official to take our practical benefits, and when we requested the conclusion of the request after he showed reluctance at our visit while busy, he eventually let out a deep sigh and reached the point of doing the paperwork.
Ultimately, it was a request that earned massive profits, ending as a short happening, and just as we were leaving the scene, Go Yu-jin looked at me and asked.
“Could that person really have been brought back?”
“It would have been possible. But if we brought him back, do you think he could have returned to his previous life and lived normally?”
Go Yu-jin was the one who agonized with a serious expression after hearing my words, but she soon shook her head and walked without a word.
