Crack!

A bolt of thunder split the sky. The big wolf seemed to be waiting for Li Chaosheng’s answer, and Li Chaosheng also appeared to be thinking.

But any clear-eyed person could see that dark currents were already surging below. The calmness on the surface was only the result of both sides straining to maintain it.

Thud, crunch~

Just as both sides were keeping the peace, the back door of the small house was suddenly smashed open with a boom. Then a half-blind giant wolf leaped in from behind. As expected, it was the old trick: one wolf pretends to sleep to lure the enemy!

“Hahaha… you bastard, time to die!”

Second Wolf, the wolf that was blind in one eye, cried out and lunged forward, but as soon as he leapt he froze in shock. In front of him was a huge animal trap. The trap had its metal jaws wide, baring sharp teeth mottled with rust. Just looking at it made the wolf’s fur stand on end.

When Second Wolf charged out he had been suave, full of lupine wild charm, but now in midair he saw the trap below and kept pawing at the air to gain speed. But at this stage, Newton still had control. Following a beautiful arc, he hit the ground with a slap, and immediately the terrifying snap of the trap followed!

Bones shattered and tendons tore in an instant. Second Wolf’s whole hind leg was clamped tight. As handsome as he had been moments before, now he was equally miserable.

Seeing this, Li Chaosheng raised the ghost-head blade and steeled himself to finish Second Wolf off. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. But the Big Wolf also saw Second Wolf’s plight and shouted angrily, “Bastard, you actually set a trap!”

“All’s fair in war. Didn’t you also plan an ambush against me?”

Li Chaosheng looked at the Big Wolf and snorted coldly. Big Wolf narrowed his eyes and snapped in anger, “Bastard, if that’s the case, then it’s your turn to die!”

After Big Wolf finished speaking, he leapt forward, and the pack behind him surged as well. Li Chaosheng gritted his teeth and, brandishing the ghost-head blade, charged at Big Wolf and the pack.

The ghost-head blade, already three feet three in length, swung against the wind, blood splashing a yard high. The executioner laughed merrily. How could someone like him have any fear of jackals, wolves, tigers, or leopards? A cold gleam flashed as severed limbs and shattered ruins fell everywhere. Lives were taken without counting. The rain-washed night will fall, and tomorrow the mountain will be as before!

On one side, Li Chaosheng fought the wolf pack, human shouts and wolf howls filled the air in fierce combat. On the other side, Second Wolf had his hind leg crushed in the trap and lay on the ground struggling mightily, but there was no way to free himself from the savage trap. He could only let out futile howls.

At that moment Second Wolf suddenly saw Ah Hong sitting anxiously on a stool inside the house and immediately saw hope. He cried out hoarsely, “Sister Red Fox, save me, save me~”

Ah Hong was in a state of confusion. Hearing Second Wolf’s cries, she looked toward the outer kitchen and met his gaze. Second Wolf’s eyes lit up as he cried, “Sister Red Fox, hurry and save me~”

“Ah Hong, is someone calling for you?”

Du Yi, who was fighting the pack with a metal fork, turned and asked his wife, “Ah Hong, who’s calling for you?” Ah Hong quickly shook her head and said, “No one. It’s the wolf demon. I don’t know why it knows my name.”

Hearing this, Du Yi waved and tossed the firewood chopper beside him to his wife. He said, “Ah Hong, take this to protect yourself. I can’t look after you right now. Keep yourself safe.”

“Mm, got it!”

Ah Hong picked up the firewood chopper from the ground, glared at Second Wolf struggling under the trap, gritted her teeth, and walked over…

The battle was unusually fierce, wolf corpses littered the ground. The four men were also injured. Li Chaosheng was struck by the wolf demon, his abdomen churned, and he suffered serious internal injuries. Under Big Wolf’s assault he was also bitten twice, but none of it was fatal. For the moment he was all right.

Zhou Bo had looked brave earlier, but he was also cut and injured. Du Yi’s thigh was clawed by a wolf. Only the old temple keeper seemed a bit more battered but had not suffered severe wounds.

On the wolves’ side the casualties were even worse. Of thirty to forty wolves, every single one was wounded. About thirty were dead, leaving only around ten still fighting.

The wolf demon looked at his disciples and descendants dying so horribly and instantly flew into rage. He roared: Awooo~

In an instant the pack fell back. The old temple keeper’s face turned black and he said, “Crap! The wolf demon is coming! Brother Li, Zhou Bo, gather in the middle!”

No sooner had the old temple keeper shouted than the sound of heavy footfalls came: thud thud thud~

The sound of a massive beast trampling the ground filled the air as the wolf demon directly charged at the old temple keeper and Du Yi standing on the windowsill!

“Ah, get out of the way!”

The old temple keeper shoved Du Yi and jumped away himself. Then a huge black shape slammed in with a roar. The wall of the whole room was smashed open by the shadow, leaving a wolf-shaped hole. Dirt flew and gravel tumbled. The old temple keeper, who had been knocked down, sprang up and saw a giant wolf the size of a tiger standing before him. It was covered in black fur, its eyes glowed green, and its face was hideous.

The giant wolf scanned the room, saw the leftover ribs on the table, and snorted coldly, “Still have the heart to eat ribs? Red Fox, come out right now! Where are you, Ah Hong!”

The giant wolf bared its teeth and roared. The red fox then walked over with the firewood chopper. Du Yi struggled to his feet and stood in front of her.

“What do you think you are doing? You beast, do not think of harming my wife.”

Du Yi pointed the metal fork at the giant wolf and shouted angrily. The giant wolf snorted a laugh and said, “Hahaha~ Wife? You actually took a big fox for a wife. Du Yi, Du Yi, aren’t you the one who hates foxes most of all?”

“Why you! That’s nonsense! Who are you saying is a fox? You must not slander Ah Hong!”

Du Yi’s hands trembled as he shouted in anger. The giant wolf smiled with amusement and said, “You do not believe it? Red Fox, show him your true form!”

Ah Hong trembled as she gripped the firewood chopper. The giant wolf’s gaze hardened and he said, “Why are you not listening to your father? What would you do if I said I could eat him right now!”

The giant wolf’s words terrified the woman so much that the chopper fell from her hand. “Don’t, foster father!”

“What?!!”

Du Yi and the old temple keeper were both startled and looked at Ah Hong. She lowered her head and with a bang revealed her true form: a large red fox.

“Ah! That’s impossible, Ah Hong, you…”

Seeing this, Du Yi was shocked. His worldview collapsed. He fell into bewilderment, shock, and disbelief.

The giant wolf looked at the red fox on the ground and broke into a mad laugh. “Du Yi, it’s interesting, isn’t it? The person you love most turns out to be the fox you hate most. Even more interesting, her mother is the white fox you killed. Hahaha~ Lovers and enemies at once. Her mother killed your father, and you killed her mother and wiped out her clan. I say, the two of you have quite the tangled affair!”

The giant wolf reveled in watching others collapse. His mouth split in a grin as he savored their breakdown!

Demons ate people, and they also delighted in tormenting human nature!
