Yu Seol’s occasions to strike first at an opponent were limited.
Only when enemies attacked first or when her grandfather ordered it.
Was it the upbringing she received since infancy? She had never once broken this rule.
“Leave those guys be and come over here quickly.”
“Okay.”
There was no need for the granddaughter to dirty her hands on enemies already neutralized.
Yu Seol smacked her lips as if disappointed and moved behind her grandfather’s back.
“…Don’t toy with them, just finish them off.”
The two Blue Dragon Troops surrounded by Evil Sect members seemed to have already given up the will to live.
Baek Gyu approached gripping his twin blades.
“Even without asking, I was planning to do exactly that.”
He was, after all, the top warrior of Ho County, the Evil Faction’s sacred ground. He could easily handle the two before him alone.
Yet the experts encircling from all sides narrowed their distances at once, likely to save time.
Yu Jinsan, who had been silently watching, stopped them.
“Do not kill them; only subdue them.”
They couldn’t read the Yin Yang Twin Monsters’ intentions, but there was no reason to refuse.
The experts who understood his meaning nodded.
And the subduing of the Blue Dragon Troops ended as soon as it began.
How could they withstand kicks from Supreme warriors coming from all directions?
Crack—! Thud—! Puff—!!
Thump—!
It took not even a single breath for the two Blue Dragon Troops to collapse.
They were still breathing, but their bodies lay limp and motionless—unconscious.
As this wrapped everything up, laughter slipped out of someone’s mouth.
That was the start. As if something amusing had happened, everyone burst into laughter indiscriminately.
“Heh-heh!”
“Ha-ha-ha!”
This was the first time the Evil faction, overwhelmingly inferior to the Justice factions, had pulled off such a rousing counterattack.
Their joy was natural.
Of course they were elated.
“I’ve never felt so gratifying in my life.”
“I’ll never forget today. To see the fall of Kwon Hwang with my own eyes…”
“This is all thanks to the Yin Yang Twin Monsters.”
“I agree. A peerless hero has emerged from the Evil Sect—what a joyous occasion this is!”
Perhaps because praise echoed everywhere, Yu Seol smiled silently, embarrassed yet pleased.
Then Yu Jinsan wiped blood from his nose with his sleeve and approached them.
“Since the Yin Yang Twin Monster aided us today, Evil Sect Alliance should lend us some assistance too.”
Maeng Jiho, the deputy leader of Evil Sect Alliance, clasped hands and replied.
“Just say the word. We’ll do anything you ask.”
“We have some debts to settle with the Blue Dragon troops. But they hide deeply in the shadows, so it’s hard to root them out.”
Maeng Jiho answered while gazing at the unconscious Blue Dragon Troops.
“Indeed. They move like a cell network, so information is limited. Even if interrogated, they won’t talk. What do you want us to do?”
Yu Jinsan answered without hesitation, as if he had a plan.
“I understand Evil Sects Alliance, White Snake Clan is skilled in hypnosis.”
Maeng Jiho nodded readily, as if he grasped his intention.
“Hmm. If that’s the method, we might be able to make them speak. We’ll try it—leave it to us.”
“Thank you. If you uncover any information, don’t miss a thing—report it to us.”
“The Blue Dragon Troops is potentially the greatest threat to Evil Sects Alliance as well. With the Yin Yang Twin Monsters stepping forward, we should be the ones thanking you.”
With the granddaughter’s prowess revealed by this incident, the enemies would surely strengthen their defenses.
They planned to flush out and clean up as many as possible before the foes sank deeper.
Having finished, Yu Jinsan glanced around with a puzzled expression.
“But where did our monk go?”
Nowhere could they see the crazed renegade monk.
Aside from his granddaughter, he was the strongest person here. He didn’t think the monk had died here, but his absence was worrying.
Then Yu Seol mouthed something from behind as if she knew.
“He chased after them. Said he’s going to catch those running away.”
“Alone?”
“Yes. I told him to just go back, but he refused.”
“Why would he do something without being told…”
At that moment, Yang Gyun of the Ghost Killing Clan added an explanation.
“He seemed so enraged that he lost reason. He looked like a demon, so we couldn’t stop him.”
Jeong Hye’s wavering mental state was hard to predict.
Once somewhat calmed, he’d return to the Defeating Blade Clan. For now, letting him be was the best course.
“Let’s withdraw for now. We can’t leave Ho County’s defenses empty for long.”
“Yes, that would be best.”
The clash at Geumyang Temple was such a tremendous event it shook the Jianghu.
The death of Kwon Hwang Ma Kwang-cheol—this rumor shocked martial artists.
Evil Faction held a grand festival in Ho County to publicize the victory; it was a prime chance to boost Evil Sects morale.
This Evil Faction sacred place was boiling over with martial artists flocking from all corners.
The festival had entered its fifth day. No matter where in the market, Evil Sect warriors crowded in chaos.
“Is it really true? That Fist Emperor was utterly smashed by the Yin Yang Twin Monster heroes?”
Four warriors sat across from each other at a street stall, toasting their cups.
Their faces were full of excitement and exhilaration.
“That’s right. I heard it directly from our sect leader, so it’s certain. Do you know what’s even more surprising?”
“Hurry and tell us, Geum hyung. I’m dying of curiosity.”
Geum Un-cheol paused, then whispered with a serious look.
“The Kunlun Martial Emperor recognized the Yin Yang Twin Monster and ran away before even fighting.”
At that moment, everyone grabbed their bellies in laughter at once.
“Puhahaha! Is that for real?”
“Ha-ha! The mighty Kunlun Martial Emperor ran away!”
“Ha—. It really feels like a weight has been lifted.”
These Evil factions warrior had long been suffocated under the Justice Faction’s dominance.
Their joy was beyond words.
Then someone, with a grave expression, whispered.
“By the way, have you heard? The Yin Yang Twin Monster heroes are staying in Ho County right now.”
“R-really?”
“Where are they now? If we knew their location we’d rush over to see them.”
At that moment, the man called Geum Un-cheol cleared his throat.
“Ahem. As you know, the Yin Yang Twin Monster heroes are the pride of our Evil Faction. I have met them personally—sat beside them at an inn, ate together, even spoke with the Yin Monster.”
Everyone looked at Geum Un-cheol with envy.
“Oh… I’m so jealous, Geum hyung.”
“I’d be satisfied if I could just see the Yin Yang Twin Monster once.”
“Was he really as delicate-looking as the rumors said?”
Geum Un-cheol rested his left hand on the table and nodded.
“Yes. they used Age Rejuvenation to take the form of a young girl, but emanated the aura of an immortal. In the eyes was the spirit of Xiang Yu, and the gaze was like…”
It was then.
Suddenly a small face poked out like a sparrow from the left side of Geum Un-cheol’s ribs.
“I’m here.”
Meeting Yu Seol’s eyes, he was startled and toppled backward.
“…Gah!”
There was no sound of him falling.
Because the chair Geum Un-cheol was sitting on lifted up with a ghostly whoosh.
When he returned to his original seat, everyone gaped in shock.
“…Could, could it be…”
“Yi- Yin…—?”
Upon learning Yu Seol’s identity, they froze.
And the Evil Faction on the street, seeing that, began to rush over like mad.
“The Yin Yang Twin Monsters hero has arrived!”
“R- really?”
“Where is he!? Where!!”
Yu Seol was flustered at the swarm of Evil sect people converging like a hive from all directions.
She had only played a prank, yet it had escalated this much.
It was obvious she’d be exhausted if surrounded by them.
Her only reason for coming to the market was to buy snacks for her grandfather. She had to hurry away before they caught her.
“I have to go now! See you next time!”
After a quick farewell, Yu Seol pushed off the ground and leapt.
She flew more than ten feet without a run-up—almost not looking human.
Soon Yu Seol stamped in midair and vanished into the distance in an instant.
Everyone craned their necks in awe at the astonishing lightness skill.
“Wow…”
“What am I even watching right now?”
“My goodness…”
While the festival was ongoing, Yu Jinsan stayed inside the Defeating Blade Clan.
He didn’t care whether the Evil Sect hailed the Yin-Yang Twin Monsters as heroes.
He had a single purpose: to find all those behind the brutal murders of his family and sever the chain of vengeance.
“Brother. It’s a joyous day—why such a dark expression?”
It was Baek Gyu, walking with him in the Defeating Blade Clan’s garden.
A festival was held here too; disciples and children mingled and laughter never ceased.
Only Yu Jinsan’s face seemed full of deep worry.
“Don’t mind me. It’s just a nagging feeling—nothing more.”
“Everything is going well—what is there to worry about?”
“Whenever, there will surely be retribution from the Justice Faction regarding this matter.”
Baek Gyu nodded in agreement.
“By now, the leader of the Justice faction must be boiling with rage. But for the time being they won’t dare appear here—the damage they’ve suffered is not small.”
Yu Jinsan gave a small silent smile.
“That would be good. In any case, this is precisely when we must be cautious—don’t let your guard down.”
No one could predict how long this peace would last. The Justice Faction’s strength still far outmatched the Evil Faction.
“You’ve been right so far, so I’ll do as you say. We’ll increase reconnaissance and defenses, and I’ll urge the sect leader as well.”
“That reassures me. Well then, I’ll be off.”
“Going to train again?”
“Stronger foes will appear, so how can I be idle?”
Baek Gyu called after the retreating Yu Jinsan with a final word.
“If you need anything for training, just say the word.”
“Will do.”
Back at his quarters, Yu Jinsan immediately sat cross-legged.
He aimed to advance the refinement of the Vajra Indestructible Divine Arts through qi cultivation.
Though it had some effect in the fight with the Blue Dragon troops, it still felt insufficient.
‘At minimum, I must raise it to eighty percent (eight-star qi).’
Only then would some degree of stability be assured.
It took fifteen days to advance from seven-star to sixth of seven? Actually: It took a half month to raise from six to seven stars—achieved by dropping all else and concentrating solely on training.
Reaching eight stars might require more than twice that time.
Therefore he had to continue training whenever he had the time.
“Huff.”
Warm qi rising from his dantian enveloped his body and began forming a qi barrier.
Thicker. And firmer.
He had to stack hundreds, thousands, then tens of thousands of layers of qi barrier to protect organs and strengthen muscles and skin.
The effects became clearer the more he trained, but the progress was painfully slow.
Maintaining a cross-legged posture and focus through such hardship was not easy, yet Yu Jinsan’s stance and will did not waver.
He was in a state of selfless absorption as his training continued.
‘…Huh?’
Suddenly a look of alarm spread across Yu Jinsan’s face.
An indescribable energy surged from his dantian like a wave.
A calm, condensed flow of qi. It felt gentle yet with tremendous power.
It felt warm and comforting, as if cradled in the Buddha’s embrace.
“Stay still, Grandpa. I’ll help you.”
The soft voice from behind was undoubtedly his granddaughter’s.
