Flags and pennons flutter! Knights stand proud! Sunlight pierces the morning mist and falls on the train station not far from the Auriel Knight Academy.
On both sides of the road, the Auriel Student Council knights stand neat and uniform, their silver armor gleaming, forming two tidy lines that reflect dazzling light under the sun.
Today the Academy’s Student Council knights have almost all turned out; they are mainly here to welcome a VIP.
The remaining students have come merely for the excitement. They arrive cheerfully and lively, yet line up neatly along the reception avenue and won’t foolishly jump over the barrier made up of only six Student Council knights.
However, the vast majority of knight cadets actually have no idea which great person this grand welcoming ceremony is for!
But that such a solemn ceremony is held for just one particularly important person has everyone buzzing with gossip.
“Any rumors about which big figure is coming?”
“No idea.”
A female knight loosened her armor, easily hung the more-than-ten-pound helmet on a slender finger, and her bright eyes flicked around.
“I heard this grand ceremony is to welcome an exceptionally outstanding student returning to school, and it’s a male!”
“A male? Could it be Young Master Lycoris? He’s handsome and formidable, finished his studies in the second year and graduated early! I think he was the only student to graduate straight away, right?”
“But he wasn’t a knight—he went home to inherit his title, and he’s the Lycoris who created magical technology!”
“Magical technology is so convenient, why are you all so disdainful—shouldn’t life getting better be a good thing?”
“That’s just the surface reason; if you don’t know, don’t speak.”
“Really? The Lycoris family a few years ago created some sort of Magical Automaton, I heard—magical mechanical knights made with magical technology!”
“What do you mean! Mechanical knights created by magical technology? Did Young Master Lycoris create Magical Automata?”
A few knight cadets clustered together chattering gossip; from afar they look formidable and supremely powerful—female knights easily bearing armor weighing over a hundred kilos.
But in reality they’re just adolescent girls who like looking at handsome men and gossiping about romances—only they happen to have Auriel superhuman physiques, able to smash walls with their bare hands.
By the way, the Auriel Knight Academy uniform is this over-a-hundred-kilo suit of armor, with the pauldrons removed and helmets worn at one’s discretion depending on the situation.
“Hey! You lot, stop chatting randomly and get in position quickly!”
A cold voice suddenly rang out, and the gossiping knight cadets immediately fell silent.
Just from that sharp, chill-filled voice everyone knew whose it was.
When the Ice Element Knight, Tina Laisel, arrived, those cadets had already snapped to attention and stopped talking.
With most knight cadets averaging about 1.78 meters in height.
The Ice Element Knight, only about 1.6 meters tall, patrolled and maintained order expressionless, radiating a terrifying chill.
Her stern single ponytail wore the beret signifying a disciplinary commissioner, and her cold, striking eyes swept across the cadets.
There was no physical frost, but it was enough to make them quake in their boots….
Ice Tina not only comes from one of the Four Great Knight Families as an Elemental Knight, she is also the Academy’s chief disciplinary commissioner.
Her cold, incisive Ice element can easily control many foes, and on top of that she inherently has the duty of maintaining order.
Fortunately her reputation for diligence and hard work is excellent, but her ruthless enforcement and overly cold abilities make most people tremble merely at the mention of her name.
“Miss Tina, may I ask who we are welcoming?”
A knight belonging to the disciplinary committee walked up and asked the question everyone wanted answered.
Though cold, Miss Tina was businesslike and shook her head, indicating she didn’t know either.
That only made everyone more curious!
What kind of big shot could it be that had Ice Tina come only to keep order but not be told the details?
After answering, Tina reverted to her original terrifying, icy demeanor.
“Everyone, pay attention to order! Don’t spread rumors or speak recklessly! Hold your positions and do not shove or crowd the site!
“Show the bearing of Auriel Knight Academy knights!”
“Yes!”
Under her cold yet efficient command, the knight cadets calmly and steadily arranged their ranks as if the formations had been long planned.
They lined both sides of the road steadily, without any chaos or jostling.
This reception avenue is actually one of the three major train lines of the Auriel Kingdom.
And the three major trains run through the entire Auriel Kingdom; the creator of the trains was the previous head of the Lycoris family.
So it’s reasonable to assume the only person with unrestricted access would be the current and sole Young Master of House Lycoris of the Auriel Kingdom.
Unfortunately, up to now no one has definitive news about who the welcomed person really is.
Tina stood with neat steps in the area allotted to the Elemental knight family; besides her, no other Elemental knights had come.
In the other three areas, Dragon Knights and Moon Knights had already been arriving one after another.
But members of the Elemental Knight and Sky Knight families had not yet arrived.
These all reflected the reactions and attitudes of the four great families.
Tina sighed; right now she was the only one in this area…..
“……….”
Tina took out a crystal from her bosom.
It was a cube crystal completely cut into a square block, its four corners modified with iron-like fixtures, and its surface was as smooth and bright as a mirror.
Tina’s soft, lovely face was reflected on the crystal’s surface.
Her ice-blue hair, ice-blue irises, even ice-blue eyelashes and faint ice-blue eye shadow all showed, both alluring and cold.
All of this was the result of accepting the Ice Element Queen’s mutation as an Ice Element Knight.
It changed not only her appearance but also her inner self.
Tina could hardly remember when she had last felt passionate.
Although she had long known the element’s blessing would more or less alter her, Tina truly hadn’t expected to become so cold toward most people—was it herself or some other reason?
Tina admitted this wasn’t necessarily a bad change; it’s just that the element’s nature inclined her that way.
In fact, Tina had become much calmer in daily work, which helped her a great deal.
There was a counterexample in her elder sister, the Fire Element Knight.
The blessing of the Fire Element made her more hot-tempered and competitive, and she greatly enjoyed combat.
Beep beep….
Suddenly the crystal in Tina’s hand emitted a strange sound and reaction.
A light suddenly glowed at the very center of the crystal.
The information inside caused the frost-covered heart in Tina’s chest thud violently!
