Inside the mirror.
Gu Changqing’s expression remained as calm as ever.
Regardless of whether it was the mention of the words “Heavenly Book”, or mention of the massacre his village went through, it did not make Gu Changqing flinch at all.
Bai Chonglou stared closely at Gu Changqing, but the more he stared, the more shocked and horrified he became.
If he didn’t already know for sure that the Heavenly Book was on this man, based on just the man’s expression, Bai Chonglou might actually really think that the Heavenly Book had nothing to do with this young man.
“The Heavenly Book is extremely important to my sect.”
“If you hand it over, I can let you go and I can even help you to get back to the Great Emperor realm.”
“And if you’re willing, I can even make you the deputy sect leader of the Unorthodox Sect so that you can have access to the endless resources and methods for cultivation,” added Bai Chong Lou.
These words were a sincere offer from him, however.
Gu Changqing’s past shocked even someone like himself.
He didn’t think there would be another man as pure and honest like him, or a man as sentimental and loyal like him.
And the talent that Gu Changqing displayed as he went through cultivation system after cultivation system also filled him with admiration and praise for the young man.
Of course, this offer was only valid if Gu Changqing handed that book over.
After saying those words, the damp cave was silent for a very long time.
The man locked down with divine chains was like a rock. No matter what Bai Chonglou said or did, they could not affect his emotions at all.
It was as though he didn’t have emotions in the first place.
“Alright, you have a good think about it.”
Bai Chonglou didn’t know what else to do, so he sighed quietly, then left the cave.
Inside the cave.
A tinge of aggression flashed in Gu Changqing’s eyes.
After wandering the world for so many years, this was the first time Gu Changqing felt this close to avenging that feud.
Step…step…
After a long time.
It might have been a day, or it could have been months.
In this isolated place, there was no concept of time.
At some point, the sound of faint footsteps came from outside the cave. These steps were light and quick, as though a cat was running over.
A few moments later, a beautiful figure appeared at the entrance to the cave.
She was not in any hurry to enter the cave and hid herself behind a stone wall, leaning back as she stuck her head out to look left and right outside the cave.
She looked sneaky and a little hilarious, but also somewhat cheeky.
“Teehee.”
The woman finally stopped being wary and looked at Gu Changqing with a slightly shy smile that revealed her two prominent canines.
She had an extremely gorgeous face, her features delicate and sharp. Any of her facial features alone was divine to behold.
When put together, they created a perfect, flawless, incomparable face. She looked like a classical beauty, but also had the gentleness of a woman.
She looked around 18 or 19 years old and wore a black dress that showed off all her curves, but it also made her skin look exceptionally fair.
“I know your past and I’ve heard my father talk about you a lot.”
She walked slowly toward Gu Changqing. When she saw where his arm had been cut off, her eyes that sparkled like the galaxy actually looked upset for him.
Then, she looked toward the gleaming divine chains that held Gu Changqing down.
She felt bad for him as she said, “Why don’t you hand the Heavenly Book over? My father’s a good person, so he won’t make things difficult for you. You can even join our sect.”
“Our sect has been considered an evil cultivation sect by many other cultivators out there, but the stories my sect has are a lot more honest and transparent compared to those people.”
Gu Changqing ignored her completely. His expression remained calm and unaffected.
“Oh no, I hope you don’t think that my father sent me here to persuade you!”
She frantically waved her arms about. “That’s not it, that’s not it.”
“My name is Bai Qing’er, I’m Bai Chonglou’s daughter. I’m not here because he sent me to talk to you.”“I came on my own accord. I…I like you, you see.”
Gu Changqing finally had a tinge of surprise in his eyes.
Not only him, but even Changxi fighting Mu Nanzhi in the skies outside the mirror also had a look of surprise in her eyes.
She had lived with this man for three whole years, but during that time, she didn’t have the courage to say these words to him at all.
But Bai Qing’er, after meeting him for the very first time, actually said that to him.
Gu Changqing was surprised not because she had confessed her feelings so honestly, but because when she did that, she didn’t look shy or embarrassed at all.
It was as if it was to be expected.
Gu Changqing continued to ignore her.
Bai Qing’er didn’t get frustrated and fished out a tender chicken drumstick from her dress that was wrapped neatly in paper.
“Teehee, you’ve not eaten meat in a long time, right? I saved this for you, eat it quickly.” She used one hand to cautiously hold it up in front of Gu Changqing’s mouth.
But Gu Changqing ignored her.
She pulled a few pills out of her pocket. “These are all pills that I secretly took from my father, if you eat them, you can restore your qi and blood health, and it will also restore some of your abilities.”
Gu Changqing continued to ignore her.
“Humph.”
This woman was finally angry.
When she smiled, she looked like an angel. But when she was angry, she was a tsundere little devil.
“I don’t have any ill intentions toward you! Do you really have to ignore me like that?!”
“It took me a lot of effort to steal these pills! I can’t even bear to eat them myself!”
She looked up at Gu Changqing and felt the aloofness from his gaze.
“Humph.”
She stormed off. “I’m not coming here ever again.”
…
The next day.
Bai Qing’er seemed to have forgotten what she said before leaving the day before. She had come again.
Just like the day before, she approached the cave like a sneaky cat and kept peering outside the cave.
“Teehee,” she giggled.
She pulled a chicken drumstick from her dress again. “I’ve added some spices this time, because I really love eating spicy things. I was thinking, maybe you like spicy food too and you think anything that’s not spicy is not tasty?”
She held the drumstick in front of Gu Changqing but he still ignored her.
“Humph!”
She raised the drumstick angrily as though she was going to fling it onto the ground, but held herself back in the end.
She put her hands on her waist and stomped her feet angrily.
“What must I do for you to respond to me!!”
Gu Changqing remained silent.
He seemed to have finally worn down all of Bai Qing’er’s patience. The love and admiration she once had for him seemed to have been burned up by this man’s aloofness.
“You’re such a blockhead! I’m never coming again!”
“Nobody will talk to you! You’re going to be bored to death!”
Bai Qing’er grumbled angrily as she walked out, muttering nonstop, “Stupid man…this stupid man…”
…
The third day.
That figure by the entrance did not appear.
She seemed to be really angry this time.
The fourth day.
“Hey! Did you miss me? I’m back again.”
