Bai Su stared unblinkingly at Gu Changqing.
Or more accurately speaking, she was staring at what was behind Gu Changqing.
The Merit Golden Wheel, the tremendous amount of qi, the terrifying source of blessings.
Everything seemed so familiar to her.
“Even if the Heavenly Emperor managed to hit Great Emperor, can he save the little fox at all?” a cultivator spoke up.
That question pulled everyone back to the cruel reality before them.
Even though the Heavenly Emperor would become the most powerful being in the world after becoming Great Emperor and he had used his unending might to suppress myriad paths and many other Great Emperors.
He was powerful, sure. But surely there was a limit to it, right?
Could he really bring the dead back to life?
A Great Emperor, as far as they knew, did not have such powers.
Everyone fell silent as they found it hard to imagine the despair that would befall the Heavenly Emperor next.
…
Gu Changqing stared down at the human realm, then landed in it.
Right now, he looked extremely elegant and noble, like the ancestor of myriad paths, like a true god of the heavenly way.
He slowly approached the little fox and looked gently at her as he stroked her pretty hair.
Just like what the cultivators outside the mirror had said, the young man had arrived at Great Emperor, but he realized that he was still unable to revive the dead.
The laws of life and death were still unable to make the dead come back to life.
In that case, it was time to open up the six paths of reincarnation and forcibly reverse the long river of time.
“Come!”
A low rumble resounded from Gu Changqing’s mouth.
In the next moment, a terrifying might burst forth from his body.
It contained a powerful momentum that tore open the walls of time. He passed through boundless space-time, countless millennia, then stood in that emptiness of the past to sacrifice the results of his comprehension of Great Emperor’s dao to forcibly summon the ancient, mysterious six paths of reincarnation.
KABOOM…
The wind and lightning began to move furiously as the void was torn open. The illusion of a gigantic mill that was the six paths of reincarnation appeared.
The terrifying mill had six doors.
Demons, humans, asuras, evil spirits, beasts, gods.
The six doors slowly turned. They controlled all paths of heaven and earth, they controlled the life and death of all living beings. It emanated terrifying murderous qi and heavenly might, as though it was about to swallow the entire Beixuan Continent whole.
“Go!”
A barely audible roar burst forth from Gu Changqing. He drew on the way of heaven and earth, combining it with the essence of his now Great Emperor blood and forced the demon’s door open against its will!
“How dare you!”
A terrifying will boomed from deep within samsara, piercing through countless millennia and spacetime, striking deep fear within hearts.
It was as though the most horrifying of existences had awakened from inside the samsara and had descended to earth.
A terrifying might seemed ready to crush the world!
Gu Changqing focused his gaze without saying anything. He used his bones as a wall, his flesh as a path, his blood as the wind, his soul as the clouds, and the dao fruit of his cultivation to hold down the mighty wrath coming from the demon’s door.
“Come out!”
He tore the demon’s door with his bare hands, dragged a line of souls out from it and pushed it into the little fox’s body.
The toll of karma from doing this made his aura suddenly weaken greatly.
Boundless murderous qi engulfed his body and attacked his body furiously in an instant, covering him in injuries.
His Great Emperor cultivation regressed at an insane speed in a short period of time!
…
Outside the mirror.
All the cultivators were stunned and their pupils constricted.
“He’s betting his cultivation dao fruit to forcibly summon the little fox’s actual spirit!”
The cultivators were horrified.
They were horrified by how terrifying Gu Changqing at Great Emperor was.
The six paths of reincarnation was an ancient place from the era of divine legends, but now, Gu Changqing had actually pushed against the flow of the river of time and forcibly summoned that ancient place from there.
The abilities he had displayed had long exceeded the expectations and knowledge that anyone here had.
And they were even more horrified by what Gu Changqing was trying to do.
He was clearly trying to revive the dead by destroying the dao fruit he had gotten from becoming Great Emperor.
That was a Great Emperor dao fruit!
Great Emperors were such revered beings that everyone aspired to be, yet this hateful, cruel, unfeeling Heavenly Emperor in everyone’s eyes was willing to give it all up!
Everyone was so shocked.
And they couldn’t understand why he was doing this.
Even though, actually, this man had done such things several times before already.
But a Great Emperor dao fruit was something with unparalleled roots, and even among billions of living beings, even if you searched through millennia, only a rare few managed to reach this stage of cultivation.
And now, this Heavenly Emperor was giving it all up just like that??
Bai Su stared at Gu Changqing. She did not do anything or say anything, but her unblinking stare was filled with shock.
Ye Chen seemed to carry the same expression as her.
But the difference was that his gaze had a deep uneasiness in it.
In this moment, he felt like he could see where this was going.
“No, no, it’s impossible. Even though that’s a Great Emperor dao fruit, even though he’s at the almighty stage of Great Emperor, he can’t possibly revive the dead!”
He continued frantically murmuring this to himself again and again like he was possessed. He absolutely refused to believe this was possible!…
Gu Changqing stood proudly in the void.
The terrifying karma of reincarnation was pressing down on his body as true heavenly might covered the little fox’s soul, as though it was trying to find a way to get it back.
Gu Changqing used his endless dao laws to hold back the force of karma.
He pressed a finger to the space between the little fox’s brows and did not care how terrifying the forces of samsara was. He would use his imperial body to block it.
“Hey, big blockhead, what are you doing this time?”
Suddenly, Gu Changqing felt like he could hear that beautiful voice again.
He looked up and a pretty figure in the void looking at him with tears in her eyes. Her sapphire-like eyes seemed especially brilliant.
Gu Changqing smiled bitterly.
He unleashed more of his imperial might, pushing back against all the forces trying to take this figure away from him.
As he pushed back against these forces, he also forcibly pushed this fragment of a soul right back into the body it had come from.
In the sky, the memories of this soul fragment appeared, each scene like going back in time.
That was a furry fox with clean, white fur.
She was holding a man covered in injuries and one arm missing in her mouth, and dragging him toward the high cave.
The white, furry fox panted heavily as she grumbled quietly, “You’re so heavy, so, so heavy…”
…
“Ouch! That hurt!”
The little fox fell heavily from a low cliff and hurt her foot, causing her to half hop and half walk.
A few fruits fell out of her mouth.
…
“I mustn’t waste any of this.”
The place where she hurt her foot kept bleeding, so she hobbled over to the man and let the blood drip into his mouth.
“Hey, it’s working.”
It was rather happy for that moment, but her blood clotted in no time.
“Awoo!” She bit herself hard again and blood began to flow once more.
…
“I’m so cold.”
The little fox curled up beside the fire and looked up at the man whom she wasn’t sure if he was unconscious or just fast asleep.
She quietly crawled to where he was and carefully pulled him into her arms.
“I suppose you must be feeling even colder.”…
“This fellow seems so much like myself.”
“So pitiful, but also so stubborn.”
The little fox hid behind a rock and stared at the young man inside the cave who refused to eat any fruit. She looked tempted to run in, but also stomped her feet in anger.
