Was Grandfather’s acquaintance actually the King?

I never heard a single word about the person Grandfather mentioned being royalty!!

“Is it true that Mr. Dowal Crown… I mean, Lord Dowal, is the King?”

“It is a fact. Lord Dowal has ruled this country for approximately one hundred years.”

Good grief! To think the person I intended to commission was the King!!

“Ryu. What’s wrong with this Dowal person?”

Ril, who had been in my arms, finally woke up. It seemed she hadn’t been listening because she was napping.

At any rate, I had to explain the current situation so Ril could understand.

“Apparently, the person I was going to ask to make my clothes is the boss of this country.”

I spoke to Ril using the skill “Telepathy.”

This was a skill I obtained when I formed a contract with Ril, but in truth, it was somewhat inconvenient.

While there was no limit on the distance for communication, it seemed to function by utilizing the soul connection born from “Naming” (the act of a superior being giving a name to a monster, which grants power and establishes a bond). To put it simply, it was a niche skill that could only be used between the one who gave the name and those who received it.

That said, it was convenient for discussing things among comrades like this. There was little worry of being overheard by others.

“I see. So he was an important Dwarf.”

“Exactly. Thanks to that, I might have no choice but to ask someone else to do the job.”

“…Now that I think about it, didn’t Grandfather say that if push comes to shove, it would be fine if you showed his fang to that person?”

Grandfather’s fang? Does she mean that fang I received? But either way, I won’t know for sure until I meet him once…

“Excuse me, would it be possible for me to meet Lord Dowal?”

“Eh, you wish to meet him?”

“Yes. If possible, I’d like to remember the face of the person I’m selling to.”

“…Please wait a moment.”

The person who had been standing by in the back went somewhere, likely to relay this to someone of higher standing.

By the way, am I even allowed to enter the country?

“Um, there won’t be any problems with me entering the country, right?”

“Yes. There are no issues on that front.”

Ah, that’s a relief. It would have been a disaster if I couldn’t even get in.

“In that case, may I look around inside the country until the talk is over?”

“My apologies. Please wait to enter the country until we receive word from Lord Dowal.”

I suppose that makes sense. Still, I want some kind of information; for now, I’ll try starting with some small talk.

“Excuse me. Is there an inn in the city where I can stay together with this little one?”

“An inn where you can stay with a Familiar is located on the third building down the road to the right once you enter the country.”

“Thank you. This one gets lonely easily, and I want to stay with her as much as possible, so that’s a weight off my mind.”

“Not at all. Since many merchants visit this country, we require places to stable horses and the like as well.”

We continued talking like this. Even small details are necessary information.

“Lord Dowal has agreed to meet you!”

Ah, they’re back. Wait, he’s actually going to see me? I completely expected a representative to come instead.

“Around what time will it be?”

“He can make time tomorrow at 1:00 PM.”

“Then I guess I’ll just lounge around at that inn until then.”

“I want to eat something delicious.”

For now, I’ll take it easy and rest today, then try meeting the King tomorrow.

“Then, I shall come to escort you tomorrow.”

“Ah, thank you very much.”
