The next day. Today’s work will be done in my room.

The task is to repair the sword I was entrusted with by Lord Goral yesterday.

As with yesterday.

It’s certainly difficult. The magical information runs like a single line, but its fine parts seem to be damaged.

I have to repair it without destroying the original magical information. I pour mana in and adjust the odd parts.

This sword was crafted by skillfully combining Eirea Magic Ore and Esrea Magic Ore.

Because of that, the blade is extremely sturdy, and it can record an amount of internal magical information far beyond that of Irea Magic Ore.

Therefore, the repair also requires a considerable amount of time.

Whoever applied the Enchantment to this probably spent several days performing the Enchantment.

…If I were told to rewrite it from scratch, it would indeed be tough, but for a repair it’s not the same.

What’s most amazing is that the Enchantment on this sword has lasted for about ten years.

Could a sword made by combining Eirea and Esrea Magic Ore really be that exceptional?

Someday I want to try blacksmithing with such Magic Ore myself. And I’d like to apply an Enchantment from scratch on my own.

If I could make a weapon like that, it would surely become the finest piece.

That said, these are rare Magic Ores, so they’re hard to come by.

On the market, the most commonly circulating is about as far as Cirea Magic Ore.

Thinking about that, I proceeded with the sword’s program repair.

For now, is that about it?

I wiped the sweat from my brow and looked at the repaired sword.

Using the whole morning, most of the repairs were finished. I’ll take a break for now.

I plan to finish the fine details in the afternoon and complete it.

There was a knock on the room door.

When I called out, Alicia suddenly appeared.

“Finished repairing the sword?”

“For now the rough parts are done. I’ll be working on the finer parts from here.”

“…That sword.”

Alicia froze as she looked at the sword lying on the table.

At breakfast I had told Alicia that I’d be holed up in my room repairing the sword.

However, she had not seen the actual thing.

Is there something about this sword? I understood that Lord Goral treasured it, at least.

“What’s wrong?”

“…Was that commissioned by my father?”

“Yeah.”

“…That sword was made by my father’s father… in other words, my grandfather.”

“Huh? …Your grandfather, huh. What about him now?”

“…He’s passed. About ten years ago.”

So this sword is a precious memento for Lord Goral.

I was surprised. I hadn’t realized it was such an item.

“…All the more reason I have to do my best.”

Originally, since it was a request from Lord Goral, I intended to tackle it seriously, but now I have even more reason not to be half-hearted.

“My father used to lament often that he couldn’t repair Grandfather’s sword.”

“He lamented?”

“My father didn’t really have the talent of a blacksmith… so he couldn’t repair the sword Grandfather left behind, he said.”

“…I see.”

Even though Lord Goral doesn’t fully acknowledge my ability, he still gave me the request… he’s probably testing me.

For Alicia’s sake too, I absolutely have to complete this request.
