As the chant ends, a door of light appears.
The door opens slowly, unleashing a beam of light in a straight line that incinerates the beasts one after another.
Although temporary, the horde of beasts is split in two, creating a clear path toward the leader.
“Let’s go!”
“Right!”
Vim and the others leap off the cliff all at once.
“Hana, let’s focus on covering Vim!”
“Got it!”
Misa and Hana draw the swords resting at their hips.
“Haah!”
They swing their swords at the beasts attempting to attack Vim from behind, severing heads from bodies and cutting down any creature that tries to pounce on him.
Meanwhile, Vim sprints straight toward the demon, confronting it seconds later.
The demon, covered in black muscle with a heavily built frame, wields a massive scythe. Describing it as a devil is probably the easiest way to picture it.
“You’re the leader, aren’t you?”
“…”
The demon remains silent.
“Who hired you?”
“…”
“I see, so you don’t want to answer.”
The demon raises its scythe and swings it down, but Vim catches it cleanly between his index and middle fingers.
“…?!”
The demon’s facial expression alone betrays its shock.
“What are you so surprised about? Don’t assume mages can’t use anything other than magic.”
In an instant, Vim moves behind the demon.
Flash Step isn’t magic; it is a technique known as Xian術 (immortal arts) that enables instant movement.
“Sorry, but I’m not playing around.”
A spear of fire appears behind Vim and flies straight toward the demon.
The demon swings its scythe horizontally, trying to cancel out Vim’s spell, but the spear explodes right before making contact with the blade.
“My magic isn’t that soft.”
Although it took significant damage, the demon is still standing.
Demons naturally possess higher physical capabilities than humans. While this demon relies more on physical attacks than magic, its scythe is undeniably coated in mana.
“It seems useless to try to get information out of you. Time for you to die.”
There is no point in prolonging the fight any further. Even now, the massive swarm of beasts continues to pour in, and Diana is barely holding them off. Naturally, Hana and Misa are giving it their all as well, but things wouldn’t be going this smoothly without Diana.
Vim deploys advanced fire magic and advanced wind magic at the same time. Flames mixed with wind and lightning rush toward the demon.
The demon frantically switches to defensive magic to block the attack, but such measures are useless against Vim’s high-tier spells.
“Gwaaaaah…!!!”
The demon lets out a agonizing death cry that makes everyone instinctively want to cover their ears. Flames engulf its entire body, followed by a strike of lightning.
Within minutes, the demon collapses onto the ground, never to rise again.
