“Ah, you lied to me, you demon, I will kill you!” Du Yi shouted, crazed with anger.

Du Yi went mad with fury, roaring as he charged at the wolf demon with the steel fork in his hands.

“Ah, my husband, don’t!”

The red fox woman, seeing Du Yi so impetuous, cried out and leapt toward Du Yi, while the wolf demon laughed, “Hahaha… well then, let me end your sinful life!”

The wolf demon laughed and snapped at Du Yi, but just then the old temple keeper suddenly swung the flexible sword in his hand and barked, “Beast, do not be arrogant, watch my blade!”

The flexible sword emitted a blinding cold light and locked onto the wolf demon’s throat. The wolf demon frowned, then snapped and bit through the old temple keeper’s flexible sword, and at the same time slapped Du Yi’s chest. Du Yi raised the steel fork to guard his chest, but the wolf demon’s slap broke the fork with a crunch, followed by the loud sound of a breastbone shattering.

Simultaneously Du Yi slammed hard against the wall with a thud and spat a mouthful of blood.

“My husband! You old scoundrel, I’ll kill you!”

Seeing Du Yi injured, the red fox’s eyes flashed red and she lunged ferociously at the wolf demon. The wolf demon headbutted the old temple keeper, sending him back, then looked at the attacking red fox and sneered, “What an ungrateful stinking fox, once you called me godfather, now you call me an old scoundrel?”

The wolf demon shouted angrily and swiped, pinning the attacking red fox to the bed with a single claw, opening its jaws to bite her to death.

“Beast, watch my spear!”

Just as the wolf demon prepared to sink its teeth into the red fox, an angry shout came from the inner room, followed by a flash of cold light and then a spear shot forth like a dragon!

A long spear drove straight into the wolf demon’s lower back. The wolf demon, after all a wolf transformed, still had the wolf’s weakness, so it had a strong head and bones but a fragile waist. Its weak point was the waist.

Faced with the spear thrust, even the powerful wolf demon could not be careless and had to leap aside, but before dodging it still slapped the red fox away. She was flung out and crashed through a wall with a bang, spitting blood and unable to move.

Seeing this, Du Yi instinctively cried out, “Ah Hong~”

He reached out but had no strength to raise his hand. Seeing this, the old temple keeper moved in and, together with Zhou Bo, swung their blades to jointly fight the wolf demon.

Both men were Postnatal experts nearing the peak, and when they wielded their weapons they were truly fierce. Where blade and spear passed, killing intent ran rampant. Although the wolf demon had formed an inner core and belonged to the Prenatal rank, with two Postnatal-peak experts attacking, it had to respond with full force.

Meanwhile outside, Li Chaosheng was engaged in a final duel with Big Wolf. Big Wolf was strong, like a starving wolf pouncing on prey, fiercely ferocious. Li Chaosheng’s ghost-head blade flashed in continuous slashes, and the ground was littered with wolf corpses. Li Chaosheng himself looked rather miserable, his clothes torn to strips by the feral wolves, his well-shaped sinewy muscles exposed, his eight-pack abs faintly visible.

This was all the effect of the Essence-Washing Marrow-Refining Fruit, which had tuned Li Chaosheng’s body to a Postnatal-peak state. If Li Chaosheng could seriously cultivate, he would surely rise further from this foundation.

Big Wolf gradually fell into the disadvantage. In desperation he opened his jaws and spat a black wind. When a demon beast cultivated to the Postnatal peak, it would unlock the racial talent hidden in its bloodline. The feral wolves of Wolf-Head Mountain were of the wind nature, so they could use wind-type abilities. The red fox’s original form was of the fox clan, adept at illusions, and thus could transform into a human.

Big Wolf spat the black wind and sand and stones flew everywhere. Li Chaosheng held his blade across his chest, braced for battle, but suddenly felt a gust behind him. Li Chaosheng instantly sidestepped to avoid the attack, yet felt a pain in his waist. Looking down, he saw a cut on his side and fresh blood seeping out.

Li Chaosheng’s expression did not change. He squinted his eyes against the wind and sand, but as mortal eyes, they could not keep open in the sandstorm. With no other choice, Li Chaosheng gritted his teeth and closed his eyes, relying entirely on his hearing to discern Big Wolf’s strikes.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…

The wind rose and howled all around, Li Chaosheng’s muscles tensed, and suddenly something struck at his rear from the darkness. Li Chaosheng was startled. Truly a dog cannot stop eating excrement, and a wolf cannot stop going for the crotch!

Awooo~

Big Wolf pounced and bit at Li Chaosheng’s rear. Li Chaosheng felt a rush under his crotch, leaped up, swung his blade midair, and struck at the attacking Big Wolf.

The ghost-head blade was sharp. With one cut Li Chaosheng heard Big Wolf cry out in pain. The blade had split half of Big Wolf’s body open and blood gushed, though it was not fatal. Seeing the successful strike, Li Chaosheng closed in and raised the ghost-head blade to cleave at Big Wolf. Big Wolf was shocked and leapt fiercely, but the wounds hindered its movement and Li Chaosheng chopped off its tail with a single blow.

Left tail-less, Big Wolf howled and fled, running straight into the night and vanishing. Li Chaosheng did not pursue, because there was a greater crisis awaiting him in the house.

Li Chaosheng crept to the window and saw the lively battle inside. Zhou Bo’s spear danced so densely it left no gaps, cold light flashing in all directions as the spear struck like a dragon.

The old temple keeper moved with grace, his flexible sword flipping up and down at awkward angles with impressive power, but all of this was child’s play compared to the wolf demon.

The wolf demon then opened its great jaws and forcefully spat out a black inner core. The core rose and the whole room was whipped by countless wind blades, swish swish swish~

Wind blades flew everywhere, pop pop pop… The yellow-mud-smeared walls were instantly pierced. The old temple keeper and the other man waved their weapons to defend. The wolf demon had formed an inner core, which was equivalent to a human cultivator’s Prenatal realm and could mobilize fierce qi to injure enemies.

Clang clang clang…

The old temple keeper and Zhou Bo defended with effort, the clang of metal striking metal ringing out. Soon both men were covered in wounds and their movements slowed a little.

Then the wolf demon roared and with a palm struck the old temple keeper and Zhou Bo, flinging them away with a crash!

Both were smashed hard into the wall and spat blood. The wolf demon did not even glance at them, but rushed straight at Du Yi. In front of Du Yi it opened its jaws to bite him to death and eat him alive. The wolf demon no longer expected to claim the white fox’s inner core intact.

“Ah, no!”

Seeing the wolf demon about to eat Du Yi, the red fox screamed and pounced, baring her arms and legs ready to fight to the death. The wolf demon turned and, seeing her attack, snapped and caught the red fox in midair with a crunch. With a bite’s force came a crack, and half of the red fox’s bones were crushed.

“Ah, Ah Hong!”

When Du Yi saw this, his eyes widened and he cried out, “Ah~”

His eyes instantly reddened. With an angry shout he thrust with all his might and somehow sent the wolf demon tumbling. The wolf demon was stunned, and with a puff it hurled the red fox out.

“The white fox’s inner core power?”

The wolf demon looked at Du Yi, but Du Yi suddenly gave out and began to crawl toward the red fox woman.

“Ah Hong, Ah Hong…”

The red fox had now sustained mortal wounds, lying on the ground barely clinging to life. Seeing this, the wolf demon’s eyes brightened. Was it the red fox*’*s injury that had awakened inner core power?

If so, then I’ll eat this stinking fox first!

The wolf demon lunged to bite the red fox to death, but at that moment a gray shadow leapt in and blocked in front of her, “Father, please spare little Sister Red Fox!”

“Hmm?!”

The wolf demon paused and looked at Second Wolf standing before the red fox. Second Wolf’s hind legs were bleeding profusely, yet he had no hesitation in shielding the red fox. But the red fox’s eyes held no trace of him. They were only for Du Yi.

“Get out of the way!”

The wolf demon’s eyes were now red, its demonic nature uncontrollable, its bloodthirsty instinct in full sway. Second Wolf glanced at the red fox. Though she did not see him, he carried her in his heart.

“Father, spare her!”

Second Wolf gritted his teeth and spoke, but before he could finish there was a spurting sound as the wolf demon bit through his neck. The wolf demon picked him up in its jaws and flung him like a burst sack. He slammed against the wall, blood spraying wildly, his gaze beginning to blur, yet in his dying eyes he still looked at the red fox.

It remembered a day many years ago when he was very young and met a red fox chasing a butterfly. Her clear laughter, that lively figure, he could never forget, and he had fallen in love with her.
